Reasons to think Jason Robertson will re-sign with Dallas:
1. Great core of the team in their peak years
2. Robertson is reportedly looking for 8 years
3. Dallas is the only team that can offer max term
4. Dallas needs him badly on LW
5. He will break the $100 million threshold

@ThunderbirdRay It's a high ask. It wouldn't net us picks like your Buffalo scenario. I'd toss in more if it got a deal done. They round out the forward group to bring a wave of attack that we're sorely missing.

assuming they don't do anything stupid like trade Robertson this summer, no reason the Stars shouldn't contend again next year. the reason to have a long window and a lot of kicks at the can is that shit like this can happen: tough match-up, cold shooting, etc.

@ThunderbirdRay Uncertain if the Sharks do that, but it's worth the ask. Proven winger who can score 50 with Celebrini in exchange for 2 high pedigree players for us.

@ThunderbirdRay I'd ask the Sharks for Misa and Eklund. Robertson goes home to Cali and plays with a budding superstar. Eklund I think would be a good fit next to Johnston. Benn retires. 55 runs the PP and saves 4 for EV/SH. Go find a RHD. Retools the roster with flexibility and still win now.

Hate the stars and most their fans with a passion, but I still think the Stars pull this series out.
That said, there wasn’t any love loss when the Avs outplayed Dallas last year and still lost. Stars fans have been talking about it for a year now.
I find it HYSTERICAL all the Stars beat reporters posting about shooting % over and over and complaining about luck blah blah. There was only one Stars reporter that talked about it at the end of the series.

@JuroKral The fight isn't there this year, amongst other things. I think back to game 5 last year vs. the Avs - they went and took that game. 5v5, shooting %, injuries, new coach....I just don't think it's there this year.

Kinda looking forward to Game 6 from Dallas's perspective, because they've now been pushed to the brink and the response will be so interesting to see.
If I were a betting man, I'd say this is going seven, regardless of tonight's performance.

The Dallas Stars have a power play shooting percentage of 18.9% in the playoffs so far. Regular season? 20.1%, so that all checks out.
Even strength shooting percentage in the playoffs is a whopping 2.9%. Regular season? 10.3%.

I also wish Rantanen would start taking extra shifts 5v5. Johnston and him simply don't have great 5v5 chemistry, regardless who that LW is.

@MolitorisNick @ibamboozIe It's not really the same. Colorado loses the specials teams battle to Dallas and it costs them series, but Minnesota is losing everywhere and might still win. That said, I do get the frustration of feeling like you're the better team and the outcome not showing it.

Looking ahead to the Avs’ next series. Dallas has dominated Minnesota in all facets except actual goals. Wallstedt outplaying Oettinger is why that series is 2-2. Tough sledding for Minnesota in terms of chance generation.
