🙏 for your support. The technology is counterintuitive at first glance. We’ll share more details and the engineering behind it, and why leading global companies are choosing to work with us. For now, we’re limited in what we can disclose due to NDAs and obligations.

The story is way bigger than this. It’s not Vimag”s first patent. It’s their fifth. The performance matches or exceeds that of traditional rare earth magnets. They have some serious funding backing their research. And they are already in production.

@Mars_Krishna @iamvarunguru Those have brushes and slip rings which lead to service, NVH, and efficiency and performance issues. Our motors do not use any of those and this offer a superior value proposition for performance oriented industries such as automotive, aerospace and defence.

@iamvarunguru @vimaglabs What exactly is new here? Other than PR words, I am not getting it. Electromagnets are not new. Our ceiling fan or water pump carries both stator and rotor made of coils. What's new invention here...Need more details..

This is HUGE. @vimaglabs has built an electric motor that removes magnets entirely. Instead, it uses software to generate dynamic magnetic field - which then spins the rotor. Vimag's motor already matches the performance of conventional motor. In the future, they can basically improve the performance by providing an OTA update - just like your smartphones. And since it only uses things like copper, steel and standard electronics - it can be built fully indigenously right here in India. They are already testing their electric motor with two wheeler manufacturers and a three-wheeler powertrain supplier. And they plan to ship 1,000 to 10,000 motors by the end of this year.

🚨 Bengaluru-based Vimag Labs has been granted a fifth patent for their magnet-free electric motor. This is fully indigenous and uses just copper, steel and standard electronics.

@VisaDataWiz @Fintech03 We are at same stage as the large comoanies. Technology wise - They are similar but not same, our technology doesnt use brushes or slip rings neither does it use any addition in motor device making our motor’s foot print one of the smallest

Amidst all the SM noise, we did not celebrate Vimag labs enough. They built India’s 1st software-defined, magnet-free electric motor platform. Standard EVs rely heavily on Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors. These require physical, rare-earth magnets embedded directly into the motor's rotor to create a magnetic field. Vimag Labs completely eliminated the physical magnets. This is a win for cheaper EV manufacturing, but the real, strategic importance of what they did goes far deeper into global geopolitics & structural engineering: - The global processing capacity & supply chain for rare-earth materials is overwhelmingly controlled by China. By engineering a completely magnet-free motor, Vimag Labs quietly handed automotive OEMs an escape hatch from a massive geopolitical supply chain vulnerability. - Vimag Labs designed this architecture to scale up into massive high-power systems ranging b/w 200 kW & 600 kW. This means the software-defined, magnet-free platform is directly targeted for critical, heavy backend sectors: defense applications, robotics & advanced cooling infra, allowing India to build high-performance military & industrial hardware entirely free from foreign mineral dependencies. - The breakthrough is the result of 87600+ (~10 person yrs) engineering hrs spent by co-founders Manish Seth, Rahul Krishnamurthy & their team. They built a massive IP pipeline (including 5 granted patents, 10 active applications & 15 trademarks) & signed a manufacturing MoU with Jendamark to scale the physical production of these motors right out of India. Vimag labs handed a rising nation the ultimate industrial escape hatch: a future where our engines run on Indian brainpower, while leaving the rest of the world fighting over the dirt. 🙏🙏

@Fintech03 Out of curiosity, if there are no permanent magnets, where does the required magnetic field come from? Also, if this is truly the strategic breakthrough it appears to be, then GOI should take an equity position in Vimag and the funds can be used to accelerate commercialization

After more than 87,600 cumulative engineering hours - equivalent to nearly 44 full-time engineering years - we are proud to announce the grant of #patent for or #VirtualMagnet #Motor System. This achievement now positions us among the leading pioneers globally working beyond conventional motor architectures. At the time, when the traditional industry is still focused on making incremental improvements to 200-year-old motor technologies. We chose a different path to fundamentally reimagine the motor itself. Today, the patents, working systems, testing data, and performance of our technology are proving it was the right decision. Interestingly, several large global companies have now started openly discussing technologies and architectures moving in a direction very similar to what we envisioned years ago. This patent covers our early Gen-1 architecture developed more than 3 years ago. Since then, we have already significantly accelerated the technology - improving performance, reducing cost, simplifying the architecture, and conducting more than 100 million simulations and 500+ tests and validations across the system. The goal is to enable not only few hundred thousands but hundreds of millions of systems powered by Virtual Magnet technology across #mobility, #robotics, #industrial systems, #defense, #energy infrastructure, and beyond - helping nations build stronger technological sovereignty and reduce dependence on fragile supply chains. This is another important step toward the future of technological sovereignty. #DeepTech #ElectricMotors #Innovation #Patent

Honoured to be part of a truly power-packed panel at #ACMAAutomechanika, alongside leaders from #semiconductors, #electronics, #pcbs #automotivecomponents — and India’s #1 carmaker. The discussion reinforced a clear reality: #EVs are entering a major transition phase. The next decade won’t be won through mechanical engineering alone — it will be defined by #software, #semiconductors, and intelligent control architectures. I shared how @vimaglabs Labs is gradually building the technology stack, tools, and core IP to create a new category of electric motors and controls where performance and efficiency come not from incremental material improvements, but from a step change enabled by software-defined motor intelligence and semiconductor-driven innovation while also removing the bottlenecks of #rareearth dependencies. The opportunity ahead is massive and building the right ecosystem is critical. Glad to see we are moving in right direction.
