konnor griffin growing into a stud helps raise the floor of the lineup against lefties, but he can’t hit for mangum and triolo and gonzales and yorke and davis/bart at the same time. there are too many empty at bats

brandon lowe and ryan o’hearn were massive additions to the pirates offense but if they’re always benched vs. lefties then those games just end up featuring the exact same names from the anemic 2025 pirates offense

@JFreshHockey i didn’t say he played well. just unfortunate he didn’t get to see the ice with anyone other than one of the worst playoff performers i’ve ever seen in a penguins sweater. he might’ve been ineffective with other linemates too; we didn’t get a chance to find out and that sucks

really sucks that kindel was saddled with Playoff Mantha™️ for the entire series. not sure what the alternative might’ve been in terms of line combos, but you can’t expect a 19 year old to be dragging boat anchors around by himself

Buying mega-low on Elias Pettersson *would* fit the bill of a "big swing" by Dubas that wouldn't cost them all their assets the way Robertson/Thomas would. It's also a move I don't really want but would immediately talk myself into it working if it happened

i think the penguins should sell big (rust, rakell, karlsson) *and* buy big (robertson, thomas, kyrou, whoever else). make your core younger while re-acquiring some of the assets you trade away to make it happen

i know it’s not that simple and some guys (like robertson) might not even be *legitimately* available. but if there is a game breaking player of that age available, you should absolutely be willing to overpay to get them on your team

I will remind you of this: Kyle Dubas has repeatedly stated that he doesn’t just want the Penguins to be a team that’s good enough to reach the playoffs. He wants to build a championship team. Take that as you will as he enters the off-season.

watched the lizotte “spear” on martone in slow motion about 17 times. looks like more of a slash than anything. he sort of hooks the stick up into his armpit (or possibly ribcage) then martone falls to the ground and pretends he took it in the sack. gordon bombay would be proud
