I think a lot of gamers brains sadly calcified in 2014 so theyre still stuck talking about how Mixtape isnt a real game or isnt art when when the real issue is that Ive never played a game that desperate to be liked. Its hitting every button it can to try and get you to like it.

one difference I’ve noticed between the eng vs jp hndr fandoms is that while in the former “wow Takumi actually isn’t that great of a person” is a common approach to analysis, in the latter discussion usually emphasizes that he *is* a “good person,” or at the very least “nice.”

@PedanticKilljoy I think its a missed opportunity for interactivity. Theres a version of this game where I can pick up every cassette or VHS and read the back cover or look at the art and that would be much better.

@viperwave There's that, and that the gameplay is actually detrimental to the story because it's all inconsequential filler. All of the gameplay bits could be cut out and the narrative would be stronger. It still wouldn't be good, but it would better.

@viperwave For me it's how lazy the game parts are despite the lack of interactivity. Like come on at least give me a funny ragdoll when I skate into a car before you do your little rewind thing. And the ferris bueller chase scene should be this funny when you fuck it up

Quality of the movies aside, it is really bizarre that zoomers are trying to rewrite history and claim that nobody every hated these movies in their time, and that the opinions of countless people who watched them in theaters were actually the result of a single YouTube video

This has always been a thing with Japanese VNs. Raging Loop asked you to not stream past a certain chapter, Danganronpa asked players to not go beyond Chapter 1 up until 2022. That said, Mages have always been particularly strict about this shit.
