@Oktahedro @Si_Boehm Hi - I have a noob question but still I would want to know from you at the cost of being embarrassed. Could we write the model logic in c++ instead of LLVM IR and use c++ compiler?

lleaves is an open source, LLVM-based compiler for speeding up LightGBM predictions. It's fast, well tested & available as a Python package. I finally made a proper announcement post: siboehm.com/articles/21/ll…

I recently moved to the storage team at @momentohq and have been trying to get my hands dirty with systems programming again. Having studied C++ in college, I decided to leverage it and dive into a project. Fortunately, I stumbled upon a MOOC [1] by @andy_pavlo and couldn't be happier. After working for over five years in the database/systems space, it's a joy to go back to the whiteboard. To fuel my motivation, I am submitting the MOOC projects to Gradescope, where Andy generously accepts submissions even after the course and from non-CMU students. I got a perfect score on the Primer 💪, where I implemented a thread-safe Copy on Write (CoW) Trie [2]. I can't wait to start on the next project, where I will be creating a buffer pool manager to overcome the limitations of memory-mapped files (`mmap`). I'll be regularly sharing a lot of my computer science learnings on my website: pratikagarwal.me References: [1] MOOC: 15445.courses.cs.cmu.edu/fall2023/sched… [2] A brilliant blog on CoW by @arpit_bhayani : arpitbhayani.me/blogs/copy-on-…

@CalvinKlein very disappointed. Wife bought this product as a surprise gift from the store on sale and it was a size smaller. Store is not replacing it for the right size even though they have the size.

Thing learned at school that I’m still unlearning: 1. You only have one chance to do anything, and if you fail you’re either stupid or lazy 2. Asking questions gets you in trouble 3. There’s only one correct way to do things, and it’s up to authority to decide which way it is

Highly recommend the AlphaSignal.ai weekly summary to keep up with the field of ML. They're using AI to identify the top publications and breakthroughs, it's a game-changer.

One of my goals for 2021 is to spend more time examining ideas from intelligent people who have very different beliefs/opinions than I do. I want to escape my own echo chamber. What/who should I read/listen to? I’m a secular liberal globalist.

I'm gonna buy an Arduino kit and learn me some microcontrollers. Anyone have examples of cool projects I could get inspired from? I'm interested in getting started with model predictive control.
