Update on @PlaceTally Working demo available at placetally.com Used it to track my recent four-workshop tour from Texas through Colorado (first time for me!) and California, with a 40°C temperature swing 🥶☀️

A large portion of v1.6 was developed with AI as coding partner (@AnthropicAI Claude Code, @OpenAI Codex). In particular, the entire WebAssembly port (Emscripten/Qt6 build, Docker deployment) done through AI-assisted workflow. A paradigm shift for scientific software development.

🚀 Thermal-FIST v1.6 is out — now running directly in your browser (WebAssembly). New: PDG2025 particle lists, improved low-T numerics, effective mass model. Most of v1.6 was built with AI (Claude Code, Codex) as coding partner. Try it: thermal-fist.vovchenko.net

Happy to publish a PRC Letter on a new formalism for studying fluctuations and correlations of conserved charges in heavy-ion collisions, finally allowing one to explore the local charge conservation effect on cumulants. Stay tuned for new applications!

New paper! We compare the convergence properties of Taylor vs T'-expansion, when expanding the EoS of several models to finite density. With my student @kahangirw, my colleague @vlvovch, @NuSteam colleague Jorge Muñoz and @NuSteam undergrad Irene Gonzalez arxiv.org/abs/2408.04588

Our latest work, published in PRC as an Editors' Suggestion, explores the tantalizing possibility that the ground state of nuclear matter may, in fact, be quarkyonic. The quark Pauli exclusion principle and momentum shell structure provide the repulsion needed for saturation.

Extending the quantum van der Waals equation with quarks -- an appealing task on its own -- is achieved in our new work, indicating that a quarkyonic type matter may emerge at around twice the normal nuclear density and reachable in heavy-ion collisions. arxiv.org/abs/2307.13532

The study was performed in the framework of Chiral Mean Field model through a collaborative effort with groups in Bhubaneswar/Kolkata and Frankfurt, and motivated by the finite system size of QCD matter created in heavy-ion collisions.

In our recent paper, we explore the effects of a finite volume of QCD matter on the equation of state near the chiral transition. Sizable influence is observed for the speed of sound and (high-order) susceptibilities of conserved charges. arxiv.org/abs/2306.10596

Our exploration of quarkyonic matter ends up in baryquark matter instead. The momentum space shell structure of a quark-hadron mixture has baryons in the Fermi sea instead of quarks, and it turns out to be energetically favored. More details in the new preprint!
