@FCBxRCB Yeah, and that's fine, it's just when people use this as evidence to philosophize about the superiority of particular cricketing cultures because of their supposed priorities that it goes off the rails.

@voldemortscore It's always been mainly about money for most of these Overseas players despite how people might try explaining to you. Just the wants from one OS player to other vary. Some might want very high money to come, some might be satisified with lesser as well.

Tbf I don't think this was a particularly difficult decision with Dhoni on strike, if anything more teams should do it rather than feeding him pace. But I remember Patidar being asked about it as if it was some gamble and having to keep a straight face.

We dont talk enough about rajat bowling suyash in 18th over vs Dhoni Jadeja You need balls to bowl spin at death that too a not so experienced spinner at Chinnayswammy. Captaincy will always matter in t20

Then it feels a bit absurd to turn around and complain at disciplinary issues/bad optics from players + bad relations with counties. I'm pretty surprised he kept his job after the Ashes given that was THE series they were building up toward and he himself used that framing

People can only change so much. If the benefits of McCullum were supposedly fostering a culture where players felt more comfortable and also looking at certain other attributes for selection rather than just picking those with best county numbers, etc

@SAMROSSANN He got smashed by Faf and Rayudu in that one match. Couple other times (Gaikwad, AB) where someone got hold of him for an over or so.

Timezone means I've slept through all sorts of crazy performances but man, waking up to see THIS was insane.

#OTD2018 Cameron Bancroft was caught by TV cameras trying to rub the ball with sandpaper and then hide the evidence down his trousers.

@FCBxRCB Notable split in line to both. Feels like a lot of RHBs try to play cross batted shots dragging him from outside off to leg and get in trouble.

@wrdgafidc Yes and dengue in 2023 WC probably killed what would have been great campaign, even when in the middle of the SF knock that could have stamped him, got cramps and had to go. Failing in low chase at Lords when in great form. Injury at Eden in low scoring match. It all compounds.

@wrdgafidc Ex. someone like Tilak, beyond the hundreds I am sure that chase vs Eng last year and then him in Asia Cup final (whatever one thinks of his actual batting in those knocks) gave him rep as some guy who can cooly bat if team is in trouble and probably kept him in the mix

@wrdgafidc It's unfortunate the way this stuff works but there are some "legacy" type moments you have to seize for overall rep. Asia Cup final vs Pak on bit of a tricky pitch with early wickets was the chance, situation made for someone like him to win it in cruise control.

@FCBxRCB I am always impressed seeing the same people be so optimistic every year. I am naturally the other extreme but some can look at the most important bowler being injured for months and due to miss a few games, half the batters being out of form, and be like eh no biggie

Most RCB fans seem to be very optimistic about IPL 2026. Get it after the title last year, but most of the times it doesn't end well. Getting vibes of a very 4th-5th placed season personally ngl

For once I want to see these IPL teams post practice matches where it's like 120 played 100 and hype the bowling performances.

Interesting the big cover peak in ODIs whereas it's more distributed between cover and cover point in T20s. Wonder if that's also a field placement thing in conjunction with batters being more satisfied pushing in ODIs vs trying to manufacture something in T20s.

Here is how incentives shape the contest between bat and ball. This chart shows where a good length ball pitching outside off stump is hit by a right hander. (CI's scoring, 2010s and early 2020s) Read this chart... write about what you see in the replies...

Do people remember when they had a captain's meeting like 2 days before IPL started last year and were like oh actually here are some rule changes to counter dew and shine the ball. What a league.

IndiaToday@IndiaToday

Should IPL teams be allowed to deduct money from players' wages if they are unable to fulfill their role for the side? @ashwinravi99 feels so and he used the example of Cameron Green to drive home the point. Green was bought by KKR for Rs. 25.2 crores, making him the most expensive foreign player in the history of the tournament. The Australian all-rounder is expected to fill the void left by Andre Russell, meaning that Kolkata will look to him to deliver with bat and ball. @wrdgafidc IMO you still need 1 wicket taker and 1 reliable defensive bowler, where now we probably only have the latter, can end up looking like some of those 2010s teams. Less concerned with batters out of form because on these roads they can find it within the tournament.

@voldemortscore Hmm. My main focus is on batting because this is a hitting competition, my hopes are naturally low when it comes to bowling.
