2-0-1 mark yesterday as the unofficial end to non-con play has arrived. The picks will be off until Saturday with virtually no games. I've gone 97-67-4 (59.1%) on this app, which is nearly identical to my season as a whole (see pic). Hopefully more winning in conference play!

BIG EAST PREVIEW: Dan Hurley and staff have basically forced UConn to be the top team in this conference. Hurley has the highest coach rating in my entire database, for obvious reasons. There are personnel issues here, though. Star transfer Aidan Mahaney is super talented, but had 2-point efficiency issues in the less athletic WCC, and his game is quite predicated on if the 3-ball is falling. Whether Hassan Diarra can be a true point guard and if Samson Johnson can play more minutes without constant foul trouble will also be worth monitoring. Creighton will play elite drop coverage in Ryan Kalkbrenner's final season, Marquette's elite offense will run through Kam Jones. But St. John's dual point guard backcourt and Xavier's long list of offensive options will provide the intrigue for the rest of the top in this league. For me, everything outside the top-5 is anyone's game. Seton Hall has the edge now with Shaheen Holloway always finding a way to maximize his talent, even if the roster leaves something to be desired. DePaul may be without a star, but has a ton of bites at the apples for big scoring potential. Providence, Georgetown, and Villanova each have a superstar, but hold questions beyond that.

@JonFendler Did you listen to the most recent Telemachus episode of Circles Off? He did a great few minutes on how he and Rufus designate “overtime losses” to grade more accurately. Love this stuff, keep it coming if you can!

...gets sorted as a loss because of a brutal 30-second end-game sequence. One workaround is to exclude the final min of the game. Thus, instead of this one showing as a "loss" for the model, it would instead be graded as a 2-point PROV win + UGA cover.

@JonFendler It seems like the biggest hurdle for G5 teams jumping up is at the two-deep level. Once starters get banged up (SMU already had some going into Week 0), those replacements are likely closer to "good" FCS talent versus what TCU, even Duke will have at the P5 level. Schedule ✅ tho

I often miss some of the more vibe-sy stuff people pick up from TV because I watch very few games (CBB too), so perhaps this team is just flat-out bad and Saturday's blatant dumbassery will persist throughout the year.

Uninspiring performance, for sure, but wherever you were on SMU before Saturday is probably where you should be today. It's still the easiest schedule in the ACC with two very well-timed byes. Nothing in the box changes my general view. 6.2 to 4.2 YPP margin is dominant.

@FrankRizz0 @XFL2023 They combined half the teams from each league. There were 8 teams in each league last year, which would've combined for 16 teams in the UFL. Instead they randomly picked 4 teams from each league and are rolling with 8 total teams in the league.

@JonFendler I would argue CLV is a little less indicative of results in your case based on your knowledge of the sport and the market; much more nuanced than someone who scrapes data for a model to pick off bad openers.

Somewhere out there is a 56% bettor who last week hid his BetStamp from public view and immediately confirmed that most of his CLV was synthetic.
