Our new publication highlights how #Brexit impacts UK #HigherEducation and research, including declining connectedness and appeal, falling numbers of EU students & staff, the end of Erasmus, and loss of talent and funding, with many research leaders leaving the UK. OA!

Exciting news!📢 2 new permanent lectureships at @CUSocSci. It's a thriving, collegial school and home to a great line up of accomplished colleagues—a place where I absolutely love working. I joined about a year ago and still feel as fortunate as the day I started! 🌟. Links👇

The UK no longer follows the EU cutting the safe level of BPA (bisphenol A - linked to various health concerns) in food packaging. The safe level of BPA in plastic containers in the UK is now 20 000 TIMES HIGHER than in Europe @BBCPanorama "Getting rid of awful EU red tape" 👇

An outstanding viva on a fascinating topic! It was bittersweet, as many student experiences shared were profoundly sad. Visa application struggles often go unnoticed, but this thesis shed light on their significance. Let's work towards a more empathetic and inclusive future.

@mjafreeman Well, looks like we're in for another wild ride on the #Brexit rollercoaster. They said Association was the way to go in November 2022, but now it's all about cutting costs & asserting dominance. Despite everything, UK-based researchers have demonstrated remarkable resilience.

And that explains one of the strengths of Horizon. Other than all the collaboration and kitemarking, it also is a device for locking in a stable amount of science and research spend over time. Now we are left to the vagaries of the next SR, and this means confidence can ebb

Tucked away in the innocuous sounding Central Government Supply Estimates 22/23 is this note on p300 that the @hmtreasury has just clawed back £1.6bn from the new @SciTechgovuk’s budget for science and research - specifically the fee for joining the Horizon Europe programme
