On the day of 🇬🇧 rejoining Horizon this analysis seems sadly ironic. I hope the silver lining would be the broad realisation how underpaid academics actually are and what impact certain migration policies can have on the research field.

On 5th July @EU_Commission announced its intention to close the CVM for🇧🇬&🇷🇴. It's officially over today, after 15 years❗️. Many thanks to @KrumZarkov for the tireless efforts over the past year and to @CharmaineHili and her team for the great support and guidance.🙏

👉 Migration shouldn't be a tool to divide society but a pillar of resilient workforce. Fighting organised trafficking, while promoting legal migration is key. 👉 🇧🇬&🇷🇴 have proven to be reliable in the control of migration and will make #Schengen stronger. No more delays! 3/

👉We need to tackle upfront unfair competition but not at the expense of breaking strategic relationships. 👉Climate policy will continue to drive economic policy. 👉 Balancing nature restoration and protecting agriculture will remain a challenge that requires bold decisions.2/

My #SOTEU take aways: 👉 We need to be prepared for a larger 🇪🇺 and COM will review the impact on key policies. Budget would be key here. 👉 Stronger workforce would be key to our economies. Strategic review of social policies is needed. 1/
