Ten days ago Vrbo confirmed in writing that one of their hosts had been hacked. My personal data — name, mobile, email, holiday dates — leaked to scammers. Family booking, two adults two kids, August. Today I filed with the ICO. Here's why. 🧵 @Vrbo @ExpediaGroup

I will never use @vrbo ever again. Rented an Airbnb for Dreamhack Atlanta. The place is terrible. The first picture is one of 50 I have. The advertised outdoor area vs the actual ... customer service cant see the difference.... lesson learned

So I asked Vrbo to honour VrboCare: process payment via the platform, or cover cost differences on a comparable alternative. Vrbo's answer: no compensation, no cost coverage, no flight reimbursement. On 12 May they told me this decision is "final".

@vrbo I have a trip coming up in 11 days. I booked on the HomeAway app. That has now rebranded to VRBO. Now the app is not available in my country (NZ). How am I supposed to manage my trip properly? What a balls up. I would cancel if I could.

And VRBO has not been helpful or taken this down for 6 weeks, and I have now gone from a perfect 10 out of 10 and rave reviews from guests directly before and after to ZERO inquiries after this review was posted. Right before the busy summer season. HELP!!!

@vrbo I am being blackmailed and extorted by a guest who stayed at my property- booked for 5 weeks & left two weeks early as their Easter plans changed- they wanted a refund & threatened a bad review if they didn't get a refund. They posted a bad review with pics doctored by AI.

Shockingly, this happened to us again with our new @vrbo rental two days before the same trip. But in this case they made us whole, covering the cost of a new rental giving us a full refund, and holding the host accountable.

Not sure I will ever trust @AirbnbHelp again after our host cancelled for a sham reason and then reposted at a higher rate. Costing us thousands weeks before a trip. What a scam.

in the interest of providing the market with information, i had a similar situation through @vrbo where the host was unresponsive then only messaged me privately that the property was unavailable...Vrbo worked with me to cancel and refunded the price difference of a new booking

On Sunday evening, I had the worst experience I’ve ever had with @Airbnb. A few hours before arriving in Hamburg for OMR, a conference that brings more than 70,000 people to the city, my booking was suddenly cancelled. I immediately contacted customer support, expecting them to help me find another place. Instead, they told me they couldn’t assist because “Airbnb didn’t cancel your booking, the host did.” Excuse me? This happened around 11 PM. I spent the entire night on calls with customer support and did not sleep at all. At around 1 AM, things got even worse. I received a message saying I was no longer allowed to make bookings on Airbnb because my account had been flagged as potentially dangerous. I honestly couldn’t believe what was happening. I was traveling with my three-month-old baby. I explained that multiple times. It made no difference. No meaningful help. No travel credits. My account was blocked. And by the time I arrived in Hamburg, I had to scramble to find a hotel on my own. The ironic part? There was no AI involved in this experience. Only humans following scripts and passing me from one person to another. And, Brian, I genuinely wish I had been dealing with AI instead. It would have been faster, more logical, and probably far more empathetic than the people I spoke with that night. What shocked me most was realizing how few real alternatives there are to Airbnb. At midnight I was completely on my own trying to solve a problem that should never have happened in the first place. Worst customer experience I’ve had in years.

@jodiecongirl @vrbo Seemed like chatting with offshore center who had incentive to stop me cancelling. Was really irritating, as I wanted cancellation confirmation before booking another place and it was late trip so not many other options.

@jodiecongirl @vrbo vrbo was a nightmare to cancel a booking I had made within the cancellation period. I booked, and the property actual location was far from where they marked themself on the map. I canceled right away, and took multiple calls, chats, to get refunded.
