Stupid! The National & Official language of The Islamic Republic of Bangladesh is Bangla, not Urdu. It was Bangla( favoured, spoken by Bangladeshis) Vs Urdu that caused riots, throughout the short period that East Pakistan existed. It was later taken up by Mujib- ur - Rehman, & one of the 2 main reasons fr secession. And some additional info- the mother tongue & language spoken in most current Pakistani homes is Punjabi( 45% ). @masaaihaara My arse. This was only limited to some posh localities in Kolkata. They had a gunda leading in small towns or villages and those club houses were torture centres for non compliants. Left was a curse for Bengal.

Left gram panchyats and zila parishada had libraries, cultural societies, anti-communalism task forces, evening debates and discussions on Tagore and nazrul, which was vastly different from the grassroots culture of rest of India. Sadly all of this is a thing of the past now.

Bengal elections remain as confusing as ever. Every second astrologer has predicted both BJP & TMC winning. Every other psephologist is sure that TMC/BJP is winning. Racists are sure that Bengalis/Non-Bengalis both are to blame for TMC winning. Meanwhile I am praying for BJP 😂

@IndicHistory Bangal idiom as in East Bengal ? I believe this is a common Bengali idiom prevalent in both parts. Also I don't support the guy but when you start dissing Ray & Tagore unnecessarily such reactions are bound to come from every Bengali. Doesn't matter if he is commie or not.

There is a Bangal idiom, দুই দিনের বৈরাগী, ভাত কে বলে অন্ন. This means, someone fresh in the field starts using jargon (as a means to show off). This guy here has no real knowledge of what Tagore actually said and wrote. He has no idea that Tagore's views on nationalism, religion, communism are polar opposite of the modern Left (even ancient Left). He has no idea that thanks to Ray's (not discounting his brilliance) Maganlal Meghraj, an entire genre of Bengali TV & Cinema has villainised the Marwadis and the business community. And does this even today. This was probably one of the earliest forms of xenophobia in Indian cinema. The Commies like this guy have zero idea of the real world, mostly because they come from extremely brainwashed families and communities where all they heard since their childhood was, how great they are and how inferior everyone else is.
