The Boys Season 5 is very likely heading to a Game of Thrones level finale and its making me genuinely sad. This season has absolutely struggled with pacing, its struggled with writing and has frankly entirely failed to feel like a final season. Episode 7 is good in a vacuum, it has plenty of interesting character moments and drama but as THE penultimate episode of the entire series? There is simply no logical way to wrap The Boys up in a satisfying manner in one more episode, this has 0 feeling of finality in any sense so far and the constant cowardly writing that refuses to push the envelope properly continues to be a huge issue. The marketing, looking back with the destroyed Vought tower feels so misleading and it makes me so sad. Its sad to see one of my favorite shows that had a genuinely fantastic run with Seasons 1-3 completely fumble and stumble towards its end. Maybe they aim to stretch this plot out over The Boys Mexico spin off, otherwise, I cannot possibly see this show wrap up in a satisfying way next week. Whatever they do, its going to feel rushed and unearned. I don’t think it was hard to make a Season 3 level season with multiple major fight scenes, and character arcs wrapping up, especially with how Ryan has effectively been written out of the show despite being the most important aspect of S1-3. I am just disappointed.

Name a loss that made you sit in silence for 30 minutes after the game

Christopher Nolan explains why THE ODYSSEY won’t portray the gods in a traditional way: “I became more interested in the idea that to people in that period, evidence of gods was everywhere.” “In Bronze Age Greece, thunder, rain, and the sun rising didn’t have scientific explanations—they represented the will of the immortals.” “The wonderful thing about cinema, and IMAX in particular, is that you can take an audience to a place of immersion, feeling close to events like storms, turbulent seas, high winds. You want the audience to be on the boat with them fearing the ocean, fearing the wrath of Poseidon, the way the characters do. That to me is so much more powerful than any individual image you can have [of a god].” (via @TIME)
