A recent study published in Nature Neuroscience reveals that simple activities — such as walking, stretching, or even engaging your core muscles — can act like a pump for the brain’s waste-clearance system. Researchers at Pennsylvania State University found that contractions of the abdominal muscles generate pressure changes in connected veins. These changes propagate upward, causing the brain to shift slightly within the skull. This subtle motion drives the flow of CSF, the clear fluid that surrounds and cushions the brain, carrying away proteins, metabolic debris, and other harmful waste products. The process works through mechanical coupling between the abdomen and the brain. Using advanced imaging on mice during movement and sophisticated computer simulations, the team demonstrated that abdominal contractions produce a sponge-like squeezing effect. This pushes old fluid outward while facilitating the entry of fresh fluid, effectively rinsing brain tissue. The findings help explain differences in CSF dynamics between sleep and wakefulness: during rest, fluid flows deeper into the brain for thorough cleaning, while movement assists in expelling waste outward. Impaired waste clearance has been strongly linked to neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease. By showing how everyday physical activity supports this system, the study highlights a potential physiological benefit of movement for long-term brain health. Sadly this has been a massive failure of Central Government. And that is why, despite valuing the topmost leadership's zeal and efforts, I do not hold high opinion for most Tier 2 leaders of BJP. The @MIB_India and @GoI_MeitY have been most useless ministries and only playing ping pong over who should act despite both having same person as minister. Instead of taking proactive actions, despite complaints from @scsb_f and us, they have been rather protecting sleaze makers like KJO and Ekta. This is breaking spine of Bharat and a generation addicted to perverted content spike every few seconds is best recipe for being reduced to colony. We have been trying to engage with them for last 4 years actively, done colossal paper work, but they arrogantly only act as red carpet layers for third grade content makers. We are doomed, thanks to bad leaders.
This topic of reservation comes up often in these threads. People don't seem to realise that American universities have had strong Affirmative Action and Asian American kids (including Indian American kids) need far higher grades and test scores to get into top Universities. This is absolutely true in California even now - even though the law prohibits it and the Universities will deny it! On the other side, Zoho has thrived in Tamil Nadu and both AIADMK (MGR initiated the massive increase in reservation quota in early 1980s in higher education) and DMK have long maintained the same reservation policy here. It is a political non-issue in Tamil Nadu. Zoho has benefited from and has in turn benefited all the communities in Tamil Nadu. When private sector investment is strong (as has been the case in Tamil Nadu) reservation policy in education can help to create a bigger talent pool. When private sector investment is low, society becomes a zero sum game. This is why we must work to boost private sector investment in a big way, rather than fight about reservation. I repeat: Universities in California have very strong Affirmative Action programs too. And California also has had strong private sector investment.
GoI needs to put an end to this global investing nonsense. Chinese can't invest more than 50K abroad. India runs a massive deficit funded by flows yet allows 250k in outbound investment. We can not jeopardize macro stability so that these share bajaar types earn more commissions
