We're incredibly proud of you and all you've accomplished.🙌 “I became a part of the Biochemistry department late in my sophomore year, and it was one of the greatest choices I made at Virginia Tech. I have loved every biochemistry class because of the enthusiasm and care by the faculty, and I feel extremely fortunate for having the opportunity to work with so many brilliant people. My only regret is that I did not get to take every class offered by the department! After I graduate, I will be taking a gap year working as a research assistant. Next summer I will be applying to MD/PhD programs and embark on the journey to becoming a physician-scientist. Congratulations to @bekah_fogarty on successfully defending her MS thesis this week!

🙌😎Period at Virginia Tech is a student organization, part of the national menstrual movement, that works to provide period products to those in need. As president, Jackie Hou, a Biochemistry undergrad, recognized this need in our community and initiated and led a project to address this. By working with VT Student Affairs, Jackie and her team installed 41 no-cost dispensers in buildings across campus. Students can now use period products in these dispensers free of charge. In addition, Jackie has led period product drives every semester to combat period poverty. She and her team have collected over 10,000 products in the past two years, which are used to refill supplies on campus. 🙌 GO HOKIES !!🙌 #iamcals #utprosim #hokies #virginiatech

He thought joining the military could increase my career options, so when I was a freshman at Virginia Tech, he got in contact with an Army recruiter.
