Virginia Tech's Diggeridoos Tunnel Digging Team are world champions! They won first place at the Not-a-Boring Competition, run by Elon Musk's The Boring Company. Over 8 days, their tunnel boring machine dug further than any other into wet Texas clay, in a downpour, against 7 university teams from 3 countries. This win has been years in the making. They took the fastest launch design award in 2021 and climbed from there: top 5, then 2nd, then the Innovation Award and 2nd again last year. Each time refining and improving on a shoestring against better-funded international teams. This year, in the worst conditions the competition’s ever seen, they brought the title home to Blacksburg. I'll keep saying it: I don't care what grade you made in Differential Equations. I care about what you did on a team like this. These students poured hundreds of hours into this because they wanted to help crack one of modern engineering’s hardest problems. The bigger picture is why this competition matters so much. @elonmusk started The Boring Company after one too many “soul-destroying” LA traffic jams. He argues cities have maxed out their surface space and the only direction left is down. His vision is for vast underground networks that move people and freight around at superfast speeds, and reclaim the surface space back from cars and trucks. But current tunnelling machines are notoriously slow and expensive, often moving slower than a garden snail once you factor in setup, maintenance, and muck removal (the competition is branded as "Beating the Snail”). The student challenge exists to crowdsource the breakthroughs that will finally make tunneling 10x faster and cheaper, finding the next-generation of engineers who’ll crack it. The Diggeridoos are those engineers. My company @totalshield_llc sponsors this amazing team. If you run a technical company and haven't looked at the competition teams at your local university, you're missing one of the best hiring pipelines in the country. Career fairs don't show you who performs under pressure, but this sure does. Congratulations, Diggeridoos. Go @virginia_tech Hokies!

🔥🤖 M365 Connector for Claude – Why SecOps Must Care Monitoring the M365 Connector for Claude is critical because when ResultType=0, it means an Entra Global Admin has granted permissions, enabling Claude to directly access SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, and Teams—a governance decision with major security implications that SecOps must track closely. Meanwhile, ResultType=90095 shows end users attempting to use the connector without the admin grant, signaling demand, shadow IT risk, and adoption pressure. By watching both signals, defenders gain visibility into where governance decisions meet user behavior, ensuring connector risks are managed before they escalate. Trump is polling 10 points worse than Nixon right before he resigned. The man who said 'we'll get tired of winning' is now losing worse than a president who quit in disgrace. The American public has abandoned him. The war for Israel destroyed him

Let me walk you through what happened one hour before Trump announced the five day moratorium on Iran strikes. $1.5 billion in notional S&P E-mini futures contracts. Four to six times normal activity. One hour before the announcement. Simultaneously, $192 million in crude oil futures purchased at the same time. They made between $300 and $400 million dollars off those trades. Trump claimed he spoke to an Iranian official to negotiate the moratorium. The Iranians said that person doesn't exist and the conversation never happened. This is not the first time. It has happened multiple times. He says something. The trade goes on. He says another thing. The market moves. But whatever you call it — they are laughing at you and they are laughing at me while they do it. Hunter Biden sold a painting and Washington lost its mind. These people are making hundreds upon hundreds of millions of dollars trading on information that only exists inside the most powerful office in the world. I think we are dramatically underreporting how much money is actually being made here. This isn't politics anymore. This is a financial operation running out of the White House.

Wake UP. The Attorney General of the United States just went on national television to say that being a citizen is a privilege, not a right. She went to law school. She presumably knows what the 14th Amendment says: if you are born on American soil, you are a citizen. This is a preview of exactly what this Administration is arguing before the Supreme Court right now — that they can strip citizenship from Americans born on U.S. soil to parents who are here temporarily or without documentation. They have been coming for birthright citizenship since Day One. And if they win, millions of people who have lived their entire lives as Americans could suddenly lose the right to vote, the right to a passport, and more. The Constitution is not optional, no matter how inconvenient this Administration finds it.

🚨 Do you understand what Oracle just did.. they fired 30,000 people.. via 6 AM email.. while reporting a 95% increase in net income last quarter.. Oracle isn't a struggling company .. Oracle made MORE money than ever.. and still fired 30,000 people because they're spending $156 billion on AI data centres instead.. and Larry Ellison.. the guy who just fired 30,000 families.. is worth $200 billion.. the 3rd richest person on earth.. he owns an entire Hawaiian island.. Lanai.. 98% of it.. bought it for $300 million like it was a vacation home.. this is the same playbook every single time.. IBM fired 7,800 and replaced them with AI in 2023.. Amazon cut 27,000 the same year while reporting record revenue.. Atlassian cut thousands while profits climbed.. Google laid off 12,000 while sitting on $100 billion in cash.. they told you to learn to code.. you learned to code.. they told you to upskill.. you upskilled.. and then they replaced you with the thing you helped build and sent the termination letter before you woke up.. the company made record profits and decided the reward for that was firing the people who made it happen.

Great stuff here. Huang: “The purpose of your job and the tasks and the tools that you use to do your job are related. Not the same." Indeed. As I wrote in Deep Thinking in 2017, automation forces evolution, not extinction.
Dustin@r0ck3t23

Jensen Huang just gutted the AI job panic with one profession. Radiology. The field AI was supposed to kill first. Jensen Huang: “Computer vision was superhuman in 2019. And yet, the number of radiologists grew.” Not competitive. Not close. Superhuman. Every forecast said radiologists were finished. Every forecast was wrong. Not slightly wrong. Directionally wrong. There are now fewer radiologists than the world needs. A global shortage. In the exact specialty AI was supposed to erase. Why? Because the task was never the job. Huang: “The purpose of your job and the tasks and the tools that you use to do your job are related. Not the same.” Reading a scan is a task. Diagnosing disease is a purpose. AI handled the task. The purpose didn’t shrink. It compounded. Faster reads meant more patients seen. More patients seen meant more disease caught. More disease caught meant more demand for the people who decide what to do about it. The tool did not kill the job. It fed it. Then the fear did what the technology never could. Huang: “The alarmist warning went too far and it scared people from doing this profession that is so important to society. It did harm.” People heard radiologists were finished and walked away from the field. Medicine bled talent it could not afford to lose. Not because the work vanished. Because the panic said it would. The prediction was wrong. The damage was real. Huang: “The number of software engineers at Nvidia is going to grow, not decline.” Not hold steady. Grow. The company building the infrastructure that automates code is hiring more of the people who write it. Huang: “I wanted my software engineers to solve problems. I didn’t care how many lines of code they wrote.” Nobody ever hired an engineer to type. They hired them to think. When the machine handles syntax, the engineer does not become obsolete. The bottleneck just moves upstream. To architecture. To edge cases. To the kind of reasoning no model handles alone. The world was never short on unsolved problems. It was short on people free to chase them. That is the part the fear narrative misses every single time. 340,000 women once worked as telephone switchboard operators. That job is gone. Nobody mourns it. What replaced it created millions of roles that nobody in 1920 had the vocabulary to describe. The losses are always visible. The gains are always invisible until they arrive. That pattern has survived every technological shift in history. It is surviving this one. The people forecasting mass displacement are making the same mistake as the people who forecasted the end of radiology. They can see the task being automated. They cannot see the purpose expanding underneath it. That blindness is not just wrong. It is expensive. Every person scared out of a career that AI will actually make more valuable is a cost the economy absorbs for nothing. Not because of the technology. Because of the story told about it.

Judge Cannon blocked this part of the report Bondi was in such a rush to try and frame Jack Smith that she accidentally ended up releasing files that show why. Trump profited from classified information as a private citizen. He didn’t declassify it as president. He didn’t just fail to return it. He knowingly kept, shared and monetized sensitive US information, Including information that only 6 people had access to that was deemed a “severe national security risk”

New bombshell reporting from MSNow: • Smith uncovered evidence Trump took top-secret docs tied to his business interests • Investigators saw this as a possible motive for keeping them • Trump allegedly showed a classified map on a private plane • Took documents so sensitive only 6 people in the U.S. could access them • Hundreds of classified records found at Mar-a-Lago after subpoenas • Grand jury indicted Trump on 37 counts Instead of digging into THIS… • Republicans are targeting the investigator, not the evidence • DOJ blocked release of key findings • Trump allies pushing probes into Smith himself Republicans are chasing the messenger, not the message or the crime.
