🎉 IT’S DONE $CCCX shareholders just approved the Infleqtion merger. Only 0.09% redemptions. That's 37,821 shares out of 41+ million. In SPAC land, that's a phenomenal outcome, especially in this volatile market. The numbers: - $551M gross proceeds to Infleqtion - $425M from trust (nearly 100% retained) - $127M PIPE from institutional investors The deal closes today. The ticker changes to $INFQ on NYSE starting Monday. First publicly listed neutral-atom quantum company. In my opinion, still trading at a significant discount to peers. Let's see what Monday brings 👀

@gppcarleo @Google @Nature I believe QC people do communicate that a quantum supremacy experiment is not a nail in the coffin and classical algorithms will get better. John Martinis would say so during his supremacy talks.

@gppcarleo @Google @Nature Yes, algorithms for classically simulating RCS won't come from computational physicists and chemists. It's not their problem. Classical simulation algorithms will mainly come from QC people (as they have so far e.g arxiv.org/abs/2406.18889). (2)

Nice progress by the @Google quantum team reported in @Nature. But, once more, it is poisoned by the quantum "supremacy" narrative.
Let's not forget that:
1) Random Circuit Sampling is a problem nobody asked to solve before quantum computing; a problem of interest for N<<10 people; for which not many classical heuristics have been developed or even looked for, and for a very good reason: the problem is meaningless for a computational physicist/ chemist.
2) On pre-existing problems, of interest for N>>10 people, and studied for decades by physicists, chemists, etc... quantum computing is very far off the state of the art, a situation that likely won't change for many years to come.
3) Some quantum people are surprised Physics/ Chemistry Nobel prizes go to ML research in those fields, however: ML approaches tend to effectively address and **solve** pre-existing problems of interest for N>>10 people; most importantly, even though the hype level is huge, nobody even dares calling it "ML supremacy".

The errorcorrectionzoo.org (@victorvalbert et al.) is incredibly useful for navigating the landscape of these fancy qLDPC codes I keep hearing about. However, I couldn't find any tools to actually tinker with these codes.

Average circuit eigenvalue sample can characterize error channels across the device simultaneously. A team from @infleqtion(@vtomole, @singular_value, @Particle_Perlin) tested this method on simulators and IBM quantum devices.
