@suhluvism also yeah it shows sooo much with how little he cares for neteyam😭 that one interview where hes like “did u guys get enough of him? well hes dead.” he himself knows he barely gave neteyam an identity lol. i REALLY truly hope hes somehow back, but i know he 99% wont sadly :(

@vvwnra tbh I'm not even mad rda is back, I think it shows well that colonialism never truly ends but I wish we could add something new to the story. jc relies heavily on repeating the same beats and he's honestly a mid writer and it's just not working for me

@vvwnra exactly!!! I'm really not a fan of the characters forgiving their opressors trope. the whole quaritch redemption arc is pissing me off cuz they won't even give him redemptive qualities. it just happens because jc wants to string quaritch along until the last movie and it feels+

@suhluvism 100%, neteyam had lots of potential for an interesting character. he has no identity outside lo’ak and jake rn but his trope, though im not entirely sure which one out of the many would be best for avatar, wouldve been more interesting than anything lo’ak has unfortunately

I feel like if it was Lo’ak that died instead of Neteyam, it would mostly be Neteyam placing blame on himself. Jake and Neytiri would obviously be in grief but no blame would be passed around. They would mostly just see it as the ultimate consequence of Lo’ak’s recklessness

@suhluvism yes!! its obvious spider and lo’ak rep different parts of jake cuz jc cant get over his main characters😭 brought back grace(kinda), quaritch, etc. bad storywriting tbh. but the same trope w lo’ak and the rebellious kid who ends up helping despite no one thinking is so boring -

@vvwnra yup + spider's storyline also shares many similarities with Jake's from a1 so it's 3 characters going through almost the same arc. too many parallels just feels repetitive. with Neteyam’s perspective we'd get something new, maybe a parallel to Neytiri too if Neteyam grew+
