I see some culers being worried about Flick turning Barça into a team of “road runners” where intensity and pressing are prioritized over flair and technical quality, but the reality is, this isn’t just Flick’s vision, this is simply where modern football is heading. Look at PSG, Bayern, Arsenal and most successful clubs today. The whole team presses, defends and runs together constantly. Modern football has become extremely physical and intense, and there’s less and less room for players who only contribute with the ball. That doesn’t mean technical quality stopped mattering, it just means elite clubs now want players who combine both quality and intensity. That’s why players like Gordon or Díaz are so wanted, while someone like Leão despite all his talent isn’t getting any attention. The market itself is showing where football is heading. Barça needed this evolution before modern football left us behind, and we'll forever be thankful to Flick for it.
