Last week, we officially kicked off our Thryve Soil Health Accelerator Program with two promising startups here in Nairobi, Kenya! 📷
Our startups Crop Nutrition Laboratory Services (Cropnuts) and UjuziKilimo met with the program’s subject matter experts and mentors for the first time, diving straight into discussions on farmer-centred, science-based, scalable innovation for real impact.📷
We were delighted to end the day with Simon Muchigiri, Head of Fertiliser Unit, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, who reminded us that partnerships, incubation, and a ‘multidisciplinary’ approach are key to building trust through practical, measurable outcomes. 📷️
Shedding light on the importance of programs like #ThryveAcceleratorKE, Simon shared how the government sees the value of innovation and incubation and hence supports an African Development Bank Group project for youth incubation – supporting youth with mentorship and funding.
Referencing a partnership between the Kenya government and Fertilizer Association of Kenya (FAK) to provide smallholder farmers with regenerative agriculture best practices, Simon emphasised that innovations should have the farmer at the centre, offering value that can be felt and seen.
Focusing on tackling soil health, balanced nutrition, and carbon management, our startups are at the forefront of empowering smallholder farmers in Kenya and beyond with data-driven insights. 📷
Welcome to the program, and we can’t wait to see what we’ll achieve together! 📷
