I was on @RealTimers, where Bill Maher gave me the chance to explain why the social media execs are worse than the Tobacco execs in the 1990s: They all lied by claiming that their products were not addictive. But the tobacco execs never had to watch children suffer. youtube.com/watch?v=d1xCD9… At the trial last week in Los Angeles, Adam Mosseri claimed that Instagram is not addictive. He said a kid compulsively watching 16 hours of Reels a day is no different than when he watches too much Netflix and stays up a bit too late. But he knows that gambling is a DSM addiction, he knows that slot machines are addictive, and he knows that his product was designed using behaviorist principles that were perfected on slot machines and that are not relevant to watching movies. Also, he and his researchers have used the word "addiction" in many internal memos and studies. My team has organized the evidence on 31 studies carried out by Meta, and culled from internal documents that have come out in the many lawsuits against Meta. See for yourself: metasinternalresearch.org See study 3.1, which found that “the majority of clinicians believe that social media can be addictive,” with fully 85% of U.S. clinicians endorsing this proposition. Or see this quote from a Meta senior data scientist with a PhD in neuroscience who once taught a university course on addiction: “It seems clear from what’s presented here that some of our users are addicted to our products. And I worry that driving sessions incentivizes us to make our product more addictive, without providing much more value. How to keep someone returning over and over to the same behavior each day? Intermittent rewards are most effective (think slot machines) reinforcing behaviors that become especially hard to extinguish—even when they provide little reward, or cease providing reward at all.” So, they know. To quote Sean Parker, discussing how social media apps were designed to give users "a little dopamine hit every once in a while" to hook them: "The inventors, creators — it's me, it's Mark, it's Kevin Systrom on Instagram, it's all of these people — understood this consciously. And we did it anyway." youtube.com/watch?v=d1xCD9…

Most men (adult human males) are not violent, and the same goes for trans-identified ones. But the vast majority of those who are extremely violent are men. Journalists who lie about the sex of perpetrators of violent crime mislead the public, harm public safety (including for trans-identified people), and discredit journalism. Tell the truth. reuters.com/world/canada-m…

This is not a minor semantic dispute. In high-profile crimes, accurate reporting matters. Biological sex is a data category used in criminology, public policy, and statistical analysis. Erasing it — or substituting identity categories without clarity — distorts public understanding and, over time, the historical record.

🚨🚨GROOMING: Why is @PaloAltoUnified asking 5th graders if they are “Nonbinary”??!! Question ES Z. 1: What is your gender? - Male - Female - Nonbinary - Something else

DEVASTATING NEWS: A second trans-identified student at Palo Alto High School died by suicide (hit and killed by a Caltrain) last week. In the article about Summer Devi Mehta’s death, it mentions his best friend at school, Ash He, also a boy who identified as “non-binary,” ended his life in a similar manner last March. I hope the parents of both boys sue the @PaloAltoUnified school district for indoctrinating their sons into a regressive, pseudoscientific belief system that says effeminate boys can’t grow up to be men. I hope the parents also sue the medical providers if the boys were on blockers and/or wrong-sex hormones, which are known to lead to depressive thoughts. God bless these boys and their families. 💔💔

Sitting in the kitchen this morning, finishing my cold coffee, and all of a sudden, hearing very distinct tapping.. tapping..and wondering if it was the icemaker and running around the house when all of a sudden I look up and there’s a giant raven tapping on my skylight.

I don’t have an opinion on this, but a neonatal practice I think should be re-examined is routine circumcision. It’s painful. When you study the supposed health benefits they’re next to nil. Most of all it’s his body. nytimes.com/2026/02/03/wel… via @NYTimes

I get that color blind casting only goes in one direction... and I get that it's been so overdone, we now feel we're being lectured in morals by some of the least moral people in the country (ie Hollywood people). But the pic in the retweeted post below is an unfair picture of @Lupita_Nyongo, who is not only a spectacular actress but also a babe. (Also, Helen wasn't a blonde either). I'm going to take the road less travelled here and comment on this movie AFTER I've seen it. Rad, I know, but still...

No mainstream or liberal outlet has covered the first detransitioner winning a lawsuit. Thus, only those who already know key facts—detransitioners exist, the rate is unknown, thousands of kids got surgeries—are learning of the suit and what it unearthed.

I hung out with a bunch of gender-critical liberals/former liberals yesterday at a DIAG meetup. (Democrats for an Informed Approach to Gender) It was almost surreal, like going back 20 years, to be in a room full of my original tribe, and they weren’t talking insane activist points about trans joy, or getting enraged with me if I disagreed with them about men in women’s prisons. Not having to constantly surveil my expressions and speech, imagining repercussions if I spoke honestly, was an incredible relief. We all had common ground: estranged relationships, isolation, shock and frustration over what’s happened to the left and its acceptance of this absolutely insane movement that advocates surgery and hormones for gender-nonconforming children. Some had family members including children, who’ve transitioned. One was a young woman who detransitioned. They were all interested in fighting NYS legislation that will allow male convicts to self-ID into female prisons. I am hoping to join that effort, even visiting state politicians in Albany. It was so moving and encouraging to meet them all! We’re not crazy, we’re not bigots, and we’re not alone.
