few founders have the grit to iterate as decisively as @SalvinoArmati yapster caught lightning in a bottle — users making six figs overnight and ppl paying for invite codes. yet after 12 days they saw the current model wasn’t sustainable, shut it down, and got to work on v2 no anchoring to prior virality or grasping at straws until slowly fading to irrelevance the point isn’t that v2 will definitely work, it’s about being self-aware, swift, and intentional to give yourself more shots on goal

some reflections on the game today
The app is stable — but a lot of players are complaining that the meme that was launched today wasn't very good
A few reasons for this:
1. A lot of players are submitting memes are submitting duplicates from previous/old games. This is leading to stale content / boring memes
2. The meme that won at the end was actually not supposed to be launched as a token because a lot of players voted NO. there was a bug in the way the voting threshold was implemented which caused the vote to pass anyway (we're sorry, and we're fixing it)
there is a combination of product factors contributing to problem #1. and we need some time to fix those factors. we decided it's best to to push the next game back a few days while we work on this. i really appreciate each and every person that joined us for the game today, and chiming in afterwards while we figure this out

@yapsterxyz Missed round one ( first time missing round one and have played most games except the first one I believe ) then got caught on loading screen after round 3 but was able to close the app and load directly back in, no hiccups. I thought it went well relatively.

hi all, quick status update from the squad. lets start with the most important questions you have
Wen next game?
◆ we're running another test game today (will announce time on @yapsterxyz)
◆ users who join test games for live portion will have a guaranteed spot in the next paid game we run with token-mode enabled
Wen more invite codes?
◆ once we have a high degree of confidence that paid games with token mode will run smoothly
more context for the curious:
yesterday's test game went much more smoothly for users. our new websocket infra seems to be performing much better. having said that, we're still identifying and removing bottlenecks in the system to improve App Stability
more specifically:
◆ optimizing DB queries because they are currently slow and causing timeouts
◆ a small % of users are still getting stuck on in the lobby when game starts, and aren't able to join until round 2
◆ reducing client-side memory usage because some users are experiencing app crashes
outside of that, one major challenge has been that our simulated testing infra doesn't seem to match what happens in production. We've simulated test games with 2.5K+ concurrent users with the games running perfectly, only for it to then crash on prod. The reason is because u mfers on prod just behave differently. our bots aren't as retarded as you. we're making a lot of improvements to this to match real world use as much as possible
what we're also working on the product side:
◆ users want to buy a ticket first (to reserve their spot) and can submit their meme afterwards
◆ some users don't want to create a meme at all, and so we're working on a "bet-only" mode for people who just want to look at funny memes and participate as a curator
