Hey @VirginAustralia my daughter is stuck in MKY as they as they refused boarding as "unaccompanied minors take too long". They were delayed but still made check in time. How do we get her home?

@BretlynB Some unis (including mine) are already above cap. Without backing his rhetoric up domestic growth is going to drag a lot of the sector down, not up

Second time in recent times that the Minister is promoting domestic students and their growth. I think this is going to be a theme for the next 12 months. He is going to have to be cautious because one of roadblocks to growth is "managed growth domestic caps" on providers.

Great to be at ⁦@UNSW⁩ today talking about the record number of Australian students starting uni this year.

In the past year, two articles have been published with my name listed as an author. I had no idea about these articles until today: 📄 Annals of Dental Specialty (lnkd.in/gh4W8jjj) 📄 Turkish Journal of Public Health Dentistry (lnkd.in/guSX_Hw4) I

@BretlynB Still wrapping head around how bad this is for regional unis. Gov said aim to shift from metro & get back to pre-pandemic levels but regionals down ~5800 places from '19 (based on artificially low MD107 impacted '23 levels) so will have opposite effect to gov's stated aims

Highest concentration of International students 2023 46% Sydney 41% Melbourne 40% ANU 39% UNSW 39% UQ 39% Murdoch 35% Federation 33% Monash 33% Victoria Everyone one of these universities has an increase from 2019 to 2025; except Federation. Most are in a capital city. What problem are we trying to solve here?

@Andy_Hazel We go to Woodford most years explicitly because it is a family-friendly way to get our festival fix. Big enough to escape for respite if needed and there is even a children's festival part of it. NYE is the only really boozy night with different crowd mix from all other days

Does Australia have a family-friendly music festival? The UK has Glastonbury, Camp Bestival, Wychwood, Latitude, Bluedot, Eden, Big Feastival and heaps more. Bluesfest and Woodford seem music and booze-focused. Am I missing something? Its seems like a huge opportunity.

Some random small city in Australia should decide to just stop sprawling and instead build a bunch of dense housing and become super walkable and bikeable and awesome to live in haha wouldn't that be cool.

@beneltham It honestly beggars belief. It is arguably the strongest diplomatic soft power tool Oz has. Russia and China are actively jumping into the vacuum Oz, UK, Canada are creating (e.g. China offering 200+ PhDs to every Pacific country to create pro-China graduates but Oz won't gov 1)

Super excited to be part of this @SCUonline led MRFF project launching a world-first stepped care approach (#naturebased, #visualarts and #psychedelic interventions) to assist treatment resistant #PTSD from #naturaldisasters associated with #climatechange
Ruben Laukkonen@RubenLaukkonen

I’m honoured to share that our team at @SCUonline has been awarded $3.8m from the MRFF to research a world first stepped-care, #MDMA-assisted-therapy trial for #PTSD in a disaster context. It will be the largest #psychedelic clinical trial in #Australia. More importantly...

@Pollytics Not only that, but State governments *charge* universities (and therefore indirectly the students) hundreds of dollars per day per student trainee in health placements
