This is proof that while ideas are great, execution is ultimately the king. Emojicoins were meant to be a novel concept that moved away from pumpfun's endless tickers, which fragmented liquidity and led to rugs as only insider plays got real runway. It was meant to be more fun and engaging way to onboard the next billion of users, because emojis were already part of everyone's texting activities, and thus should be a natural transition because of its real life significance. Unfortunately, Econia dropped the ball on the first day of launch by sidelining the community partnerships, which led to the first failure of the first iteration whose hype barely lasted 48 hours until it was gone. The Aptos community wasn't willing to give up on it, as it witnessed a resurgence in February during the "Aptos looking good" era because they saw it could be something special, and reflective of the Aptos experience as the Chinese community rallied behind the 🧧, while Aptos Ogs rallied behind 🌐 and 🪖🌐 which represented the global symbol of Aptos, and @AveryChing's warmode vision to 10x the ecosystem. I knew that Aptos ecosystem was still in its nascent stages, and couldn't sustain a full blown Degen scene. It led me to discuss with @thisttv to host a space to create a platform for emojis with real life significance to be used to attract new users to Aptos, while they could serve as a safe speculation bid for Aptos retail. While the community was receptive to the idea and rightfully pushed for lesser fees, creator rev, more marketing, and dexscreener listing to allow emojis get more visibility but those weren't forthcoming as they kept saying it was beyond their control. What eventually marked the top for emojicoins was the launch of "Emojicoins Arena" which Econia pushed as a game changer, but it was just a botfest as the community was sidelined, and what could have been used to bootstrap existing Emojicoins CTOs and used for a revenue sharing ended up lining the pockets of bots. I still believe that Aptos needs a casino, which can be used to attract liquidity and it is clear as day that @emojicoindotfun was never the platform to achieve that.

Recap Of Aptos May. Aptos May was the best month on @Aptos for the year 2025, and it kickstarted with Aptos announcing a $100k reward for Yappers which was a signal of things to come. Aptos May previewed the Aptos Defi Summer with the likes of @TappExchange, @Revive_Finance launching on testnet, while @MoarMarket, @kofi_finance and @flipvault came live on mainnet. The likes of @hyperion_xyz and @EchoProtocol_ who are all part of the cohorts of Aptos LFM program began their Tge campaign. There was a glimpse of Aptos future as the global trading engine, home of Stables and bitcoin utility with Aptos breaking it's ath in daily Dex volume three different times in one week, while the marketcap of stablecoin hit a new all time high and @wallet xBTC launched on Aptos and Aptos captured the supply of $90m on its Defi protocols. There was also the expansion of its community engine with the @AptosCollective welcoming 39 new members, @creaptosdao debuting as the home of content creators on Aptos, while the @Aptos_Africa regional community held a successful buildsprint in Nigeria which brought more people to Aptos. There was also signs of the Nft season returning on Aptos with @penguinonaptos achieving a mint out, while the likes of @AptoRobos, @SpooksLabs, @PixelPiratesNFT and @AptosMonkeys increased in value and @wapal_official reported $170k volume on nfts in the last 7 days of May on their platform. There was hint of the emojicoin season returning with the likes of @apt_miguel, @_sonji and others leading the CTO of 🌐, while the @emojirocket100 reached a new Ath in MC, and the @warmodeapt 🪖🌐 has shown signs of revival. In conclusion, Aptos May witnessed a resurgence of the Aptos community as Aptos reached a new high in mindshare, and it has set the tone for the 10x promised by @AveryChing, which seemed illusionary at first but there is now strong signs of fulfillment.

🧵Aptos Culture : Emojicoins If you want to know Aptos better, you need to understand the role of "emojicoins" and @emojicoindotfun, created by @EconiaLabs. Emojicoin Fun is a platform similar to Pump Fun, but with emojis. You can launch or trade emojicoins. The launch of @emojicoindotfun was very well received by the Aptos community. For a very long time, Aptos has been seen as too corporate/institutional/serious. So when Emojicoin Fun launched back in November 2024, the community saw an amazing opportunity to bring vibes and onboard degens to Aptos. Since the launch, some emojicoins have gained some traction at some point, but it never went as crazy as we would have wanted. The emojicoins: 🐶, 🧧, 🌐 had their moment. Some Aptos projects have embraced the vibe and adopted an emojicoin to some extent: @kofi_finance : ☕️ @predictonfliq : 🗿🌐 @PanoraExchange : 🌐 @mirage_protocol : 🏝️ @panana_predict : 🍌🔮 There have also been pure emojicoin-driven CTO projects like @warmodeapt, @emojirocket100, @ctoglobe, @AptosWeebs, or @MssssGy (non-exhaustive list). The community has always felt some frustration regarding emojicoins. It's original, it has some premium compared to the typical shitmemecoin on Pump Fun, it's canonical, and emojis have been universally used on the internet for decades. The community feels that emojicoins could be a flagship product for Aptos in general. So there is some frustration, because the community has been asking for Dexscreener or Exchange listings. People would like to see more initiatives and products built around emojis. At the same time, Aptos Foundation has also stepped up by supporting some emojicoins and maintaining some floor price. There is specific expectation for "🌐" as it's the universal symbol of Aptos. Conclusion Emojicoins are a big part of Aptos culture and lore. We love them. We have some frustration because we'd like to see emojicoins become a big thing on Aptos. But we're also hopeful to see them gain more traction in the future once Aptos gets more hype and users.
