As the NCAA Basketball Tournaments are in full swing this weekend, the American Gaming Association announced that Americans will legally wager an estimated $3.3 billion on the annual tournaments this year, a 54% increase over the past three years.
That is nearly double the record $1.76 billion that was wagered on this year’s Super Bowl LX, underscoring just how big a betting event the NCAA tournament has become.

For over a year, Israel, Washington and even Lebanon’s government have been speaking as if Hezbollah has been broken for good.

Rulings in cases alleging antisemitism on US campuses say common pro-Palestinian speech is constitutionally protected
“The courts have said, ‘We agree, this is first amendment protected speech,” said Radhika Sainath, an attorney with Palestine Legal, which filed briefs in many of the cases. That, she continued, has resulted in “wins for Palestinian rights because they are starting to create a body of law”.
Among long-debated phrases that courts have found are protected speech are phrases like “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” and “globalize the intifada”.

Oman's foreign minister has called for the US to extricate itself from the war in Iran, describing the Islamic Republic's attacks on Gulf states as an "inevitable" reaction to the assault.
Writing in the Economist, Badr Al Busaidi - who also mediated the most recent failed talks between the US and Iran - said that the US had miscalculated by allowing itself to be "drawn into" the conflict with Iran.
"Iran’s retaliation against what it claims are American targets on the territory of its neighbours was an inevitable, if deeply regrettable and completely unacceptable, result," he wrote.
"Faced with what both Israel and America described as a war designed to terminate the Islamic Republic, this was probably the only rational option available to the Iranian leadership."

Paul Dietrich, chief investment strategist at Wedbush Securities, told NBC News that diesel prices will become a “direct hit on consumer prices” if they remain elevated, as “groceries get more expensive, delivery costs rise, and household budgets are tightened.”
“Diesel is what moves the real economy,” explained Dietrich. “It hauls the food, the packages, the building supplies, and the inventory sitting on store shelves.”

🚨 The Israeli military attacked on Wednesday the South Pars natural gas field in the Persian Gulf, considered to be the largest of its kind in the world, and Tehran now threatens to retaliate by attacking energy assets in Gulf states.
🛢The South Pars gas field includes oil facilities. Its southern section lies in Iranian territorial waters, while its northern part belongs to Qatar. Iran's oil ministry told local media that some of the field's infrastructure has been damaged, but there are no reports of casualties.
🇶🇦 Qatar's Foreign Ministry Spokesman called on all parties to exercise restraint and adhere to international law. "Targeting energy infrastructure constitutes a threat to global energy security," Majed al-Ansari said in a statement, calling the Israeli strike "dangerous and irresponsible." Ansari urged the parties to work to de-escalate tensions "in a manner that preserves the security and stability of the region."
