What if I’m totally fine with gays being married, I think abortion is awful but should be legal, but I think we spend far too much money on free handouts that benefit nobody and we need to deport illegals, and everyone who lives here should be America first? Am I not “conservative”? If not, what then? Maybe the conservative ideology should be a big tent. We all share a common goal of keeping us far away from the liberal ideology. Maybe you should focus on what brings us together instead of what separates us.

If we’re going to have a conservative civil war, the dividing line should be those who believe in protecting and preserving marriage, the family, and unborn life vs those indifferent or opposed. You can’t be a conservative in any meaningful sense if you don’t want to conserve the bedrock of civilization itself.
