Français 8 a voyagé en vacances! Ss worked in partners for their travel project and through authentic resources, researched plane tickets and airbnbs. Then we headed to the aéroport…I mean - green screen au laboratoire de STEAM! ✈️#WeAreChappaqua #BonVoyage

Señor Sphero! Español students first practice coding to move the robot around una villa (chair). They then use a green screen to tour Señor around a pretend classroom. Finally, using iMovie, they describe the robot's adventures using Español. @MurphySrta

STEAM Miniature Golf Course: moving features designed, constructed, and coded by 5th graders using Hummingbird robots; putter heads developed, 3D printed, and fabricated into golf clubs by 8th graders. @birdbraintech @MrRotstein @BobbyBellMS

Fifth grade students designed and 3D printed backpack tags, most of them using TinkerCad for the first time. Look at the wonderful variety of the designs! @BobbyBellMS #REBellTone

Watch this video of Sphero Mini Mini-Golf (with two robots)! It shows the wonderfully varied designs Ss made using Hummingbird Kits. Plus their engagement in trying to solve each other mini-golf holes by coding Sphero Minis. @SpheroEdu @birdbraintech @BobbyBellMS #REBellTone

I'm taken by the passion shown at successfully completing a self-created challenge (directing a Sphero Mini through cardboard tubes they found in the Bell STEAM Center) @SpheroEdu @BobbyBellMS

Four questions students can ask of any math situation: 1. What do you notice? 2. Does it require exact or estimate? 3. What can you visualize? 4. What can you figure out mentally? #growwithgrafflin #wearechappaqua

Ss created their own four-digit pattern problems on index cards. Two numbers given to discern the pattern, two blanks to fill in. Then Ss tried to rank the cards by difficulty, 1-5, first individually, then by committee. Finally, we discussed a disagreement as a class. Is it a 5?

Students playing strategy games together to end the week. No dice, no cards, no spinners. Last week Abalone, this week Quoridor. Encouraging community, logical thinking, and fun! #GrowWithGrafflin #WeAreChappaqua

A few of my students figured out that it was the flag of the Bahamas. We will explore more next week.

This week Ss created challenges using only the digits: 1, 2, 5, & 8. Today’s big questions - What is the largest even number we can make? How many numbers can we make with 8 in the ones place? Ss compared the results with an investigation of 5 in the thousands place. Are they =?
