@stukhan @CUEngineering @CUBoulderCEAE We only did one type of toilet - this was unfunded but too cool not to do, once we realized the potential with the laser set up that Crimaldi has for fluid mechanics. We hope to continue with other toilet types and other ideas for better/more data

@GeekAndDad Thanks! Yes - we are looking for some funding to do more toilets and develop best practices. Very interesting about the oncological flushing practices! makes sense.

@waterprof This is outstanding work! Somewhat known in Oncological circles; patients undergoing chemotherapy are advised to close the lid and flush twice at home to avoid exposing housemates to chemotherapy drugs. Be great to replicate with common household toilets with tank flush.

@flrosario A student I was mentoring last year got all excellents, but only 2 reviews and no award or honorable mention. We went back and forth with NSF for months to get an explanation or some info: response was: stuff happens in panels and thats not recorded, try again next year.....

@DrPieterPeach @DavidElfstrom Most materials absorb the deep UV wavelengths that are used in disinfection, but it depends on the material used. paint should absorb but aluminum will reflect. Certainly any upper room UV 254 nm application should not be designed to have light reflected back toward people.
