At World Climate Summit & The Investment COP (#WCSIC2025), John Mulligan from World Gold Council, made one thing very clear: “There is no point having a resilient industrial enterprise if people and ecosystems around you are vulnerable.” Impact is the engine of value. Here are the key takeaways from the Transitioning Industry Agenda: 🌱A major opportunity hiding in plain sight: Nicole Rycroft from Canopy Planet shared that unlocking nature-positive value chains is no longer optional, it’s a strategic frontier for capital, industry and innovation. 🏭The transition depends on the materials we choose: Norsk Hydro’s John Thuestad emphasised how global supply chains must transition from carbon-intensive to climate-smart to reshape production at the foundation of every sector. 🔊 Professor Livio Scalvini from the Imperial College London shared: “Impact must come first; profit becomes the consequence of value creation.” Read the full #WCSIC2025 Outcomes Newsletter here: bit.ly/HighLightsWCS Delivering the Transition, together. #WorldClimateFoundation #WorldClimateSummit #InvestmentCOP #COP30 #DeliveringTheTransition

At COP30 in Belém, @Nan Shan Life highlighted a vital lesson: climate resilience starts with protecting the health of Indigenous communities. In Taiwan, mountain Indigenous communities have a life expectancy 8,65 years shorter than the national average, limited healthcare access, and heightened vulnerability to climate-driven disasters and crop loss. Nan Shan Life’s programmes are addressing these challenges through preventive screenings, telemedicine upgrades, and community health initiatives that have already reached over 60,000 people. Nan Shan Life’s work shows that climate adaptation and health are inseparable. We cannot strengthen resilience to rising temperatures, extreme weather, or ecosystem loss without investing in the most vulnerable communities. “Health systems, insurers, and community-care institutions must be recognised as climate-critical infrastructure.” 📌 Read the full article here: bit.ly/NanShanLife #WorldClimateFoundation #WorldClimateSummit #DeliveringTheTransition #ClimateResilience #ClimateAndHealth

At World Climate Summit & The Investment COP (#WCSIC2025), Helen Pedroso from L’Oreal pointed out that without the inclusion of local innovation, sustainability will remain Eurocentric. The solutions already exist in the Global South, and now is the time to recognise and elevate them because they are essential for global progress. Here are the key takeaways from the Global South as an innovation leader: 🌎The Global South is reframing the innovation narrative: As Uyunkar Domingo Peas Nampichkai of the Amazon Sacred Headwaters Alliance reminded us that protecting nature requires valuing ancestral Indigenous knowledge and worldviews that have safeguarded ecosystems for generations. 💻Technology must scale with local wisdom, not over it: Diageo’s Kristin Hughes highlighted how true scalability lies in pairing emerging tools such as AI with the deep cultural and ecological expertise already rooted in local communities. 🔊 Xiye Bastida from the Re-Earth Initiative remarked: “Indigenous peoples have the greatest amount of biodiversity in our territories because we create the conditions for life to thrive.” Read the full #WCSIC2025 Outcomes Newsletter here: bit.ly/HighLightsWCS Delivering the Transition, together. #WorldClimateFoundation #WorldClimateSummit #InvestmentCOP #COP30 #DeliveringTheTransition

🌱 What does true regenerative business look like in practice? At World Climate Summit & The Investment COP 2025, Salomon Salinas, Executive Vice President at @Capgemini, moved beyond theory to outline the operational architecture of a Net Positive enterprise. Capgemini’s Net Positive initiative establishes a measurable framework for value creation, where positive impact on society and the environment is embedded into corporate strategy. Salomon Salinas detailed three structural pillars essential for the transition: 🔬 Leadership rooted in evidence and empathy  🏛️ Governance that incentivises regeneration  📊 Radical transparency Beyond Corporate Social Responsibility, this is a systemic redesign of how businesses operate, ensuring every decision generates measurable benefits for people and the planet. Watch Capgemini’s full interview here: bit.ly/CapgeminiArtic… Together, we can build a business ecosystem that gives more than it takes. #WorldClimateFoundation #WorldClimateSummit #InvestmentCOP #DeliveringTheTransition #StrategicLeadership

At World Climate Summit & The Investment COP (#WCSIC2025), Alexandre Padilha, Brazil's Health Minister, reminded us that the climate crisis is a public health crisis, and that every $1 invested in resilient health systems yields four times the value. Businesses today can't afford inaction. Here are the key takeaways from the Climate, Biodiversity, Equity & Health agenda at #WCSIC2025: 🌳Climate is no longer a “carbon-only” agenda: Marco Lambertini from Nature Positive Initiative highlighted how climate goals can’t be met without restoring nature, protecting ecosystems and reshaping how our economies interact with the natural world. 🏦Finance is aligning to deliver nature-positive and transition solutions at scale: Investors and regulators at #WCSIC2025 converged on the need for harmonised disclosures and blended finance structures to move from isolated pilots to bankable projects and capital at scale. 🔊Dr Eva Riesenhuber from @Siemens said it perfectly: “We can’t choose the crisis we want to address, because we have to address all of them together.” Read the full #WCSIC2025 Outcomes Newsletter here: bit.ly/HighLightsWCS Delivering the Transition, together. #WorldClimateFoundation #WorldClimateSummit #InvestmentCOP #COP30 #DeliveringTheTransition

🌍 The World Climate Summit & Investment COP Outcomes Highlights are out! Read the full newsletter here: bit.ly/HighLightsWCS World Climate Summit & The Investment COP (#WCSIC) in Belém convened leaders from government, business, civil society, international organisations, and academia. Over two days, one message rang clear: we’re entering a new phase of climate action that’s integrated, scalable and led by the regions closest to the solutions. Here are the 4 biggest takeaways from WCSIC: 🔄Climate, Biodiversity, Equity & Health Are One Integrated Agenda The era of treating climate as “carbon only” is over. We cannot achieve climate goals without healthy ecosystems, nor can we build resilient economies or communities without nature. Real solutions must be integrated, not siloed. 🚀The Global South Is an Innovation Leader, Not an Aid Recipient The old narrative of Global South countries being “aid dependent” has flipped. Indigenous and local communities are demonstrating the most effective, scalable climate solutions from biodiversity stewardship to regenerative land management. Partnership, not patronage, is the way forward. 💹Climate Finance Must Scale at the Speed of “Moore’s Law” We need a “Moore’s Law” moment for climate and nature. Blended finance models showcased in Belém prove that when risk is reduced, capital flows at scale. Standardised and auditable data will be essential to build trust and unlock the next wave of investment. 🏭Hard-to-Abate Sectors Are Now “Possible-to-Scale” Steel, cement, mining, and materials are no longer “too difficult to change”. The technology exists; the barrier is coordination. With long-term offtake agreements, shared standards, and clearer demand signals, these sectors can transition at speed. Belém showed us that the shift from pilots to systems-level scale is already underway and that the most powerful solutions are emerging from collective action, local innovation, and cross-sector coalitions. 🌐At the World Climate Impact Hub Pavilion at COP30’s the Blue Zone in Belém, the World Climate Foundation’s Climate Investment Coalition hosted a session, “Unlocking Climate Action Through Blended Finance”. Matsi Modise, our moderator was joined by a panel of global frontrunners dedicated to implementing real change. We would like to thank Uros Zver (Heidrick & Struggles), Leonardo Fleck (Santander), Omer Kirac (IFD/Paris Europlace), and Valerie Hickey (World Bank) for their invaluable insights during the session. Here are key takeaways from the session: 💱 The session showcased blended finance models that reduce investment risk and enhance bankability for high-impact climate initiatives, creating clearer pathways for long-term capital mobilisation. 🍃There is a need to advance blended finance solutions that de-risk and scale climate investments, strengthen public-private collaboration and mobilise capital for mitigation, adaptation and resilient infrastructure. 🤝 Transparent governance models, effective funding frameworks and cross-sector partnerships are essential to accelerating climate finance. Dialogue among investors, development institutions, policymakers and banks remains key to unlocking new capital flows. 💭 “COP30 must be the moment when we stop debating the ‘why’ and start delivering the ‘how’ by turning blended finance into a practical engine for climate action in emerging economies” - Omer Kirac We’re partnering for implementation beyond #COP30. #WorldClimateImpactHub #WorldClimateFoundation #WorldClimateSummit #InvestmentCOP #ClimateAction #Sustainability #Transition #Innovation #Investment
