At the first Congo Basin Science Initiative conference in Brazzaville, WCS Congo’s #OneHealth Program shared results of a study showing the live fruit bat trade is structured and economically significant (up to 7–8M FCFA in Brazzaville). But #zoonotic risk awareness remains low.

A breathtaking moment at Mbeli Bai! Our team spotted something extraordinary – adult female #gorilla Mogwai briefly separated, only to return with a #newborn in her arms! With the umbilical cord still visible, she tenderly cleaned the baby, confirming a rare birth on-site!

Regular #OneHealth training in #NouabaléNdoki National Park equips researchers and eco-guards to safely handle animal carcasses and prevent zoonotic diseases, particularly #Ebola. Through this preventive work, WCS helps protect both human and wildlife health. . #Congo #Zoonoses
