Anyone know of papers that have derived area-volume scaling relationships for supraglacial landslides? Sure I have seen at least one and can't find it!

In 2019 this was a 4 page mini paper. Five years later and it's 15 pages long. Don't they grow up so fast. If anyone wants a shapefile of the new inventory see: zenodo.org/record/6510034

@iamdonovan If you uninstall it using cmd prompt (can't uninstall any other way) and then search for anything within the start menu, it tries to open Edge and subsequently gets stuck in an infinite Edge-opening boot loop 😢

New version of GERALDINE (v1.11) available at: doi.org/10.5281/zenodo… This version adds Landsat 9 imagery (tier 1 and 2). Landsat 9 real-time imagery (for rapid monitoring) will be added once it becomes available on GEE.

@moulinology @DrMikePJ Avalanche probes are great for finding crevasses, so you don't pitch your tent on one. I've also found its best to dig a 1-2ft deep trench, to pitch the tent in, which prevents you having to re-pitch it after only a day or two (depending on ablation rates). Good luck!

Hey glacier people, does anyone have tips for doing fieldwork in the accumulation area❄️? I've only done work in the ablation area 💧🧊. We are prepping logistics for next summer's fieldwork on #Helheim and I would appreciate all the tips!

@KAnderson_RS Yes, it basically gathers all the images within your specified time frame and the year before your specified time frame, creates a maximum debris extent mosaic of these two image stacks, differences them, and clips the final mosaics to the RGI v6.0

@wdsmith140 Does it use Randolph Glacier Inventory as the basemap for the glaciers...? Haven't delved into the details of the paper yet, just went straight to Earth Engine. Thanks for building it, I think it looks super useful! Running slowly this afternoon, but it works!
