He worked his whole life worrying about retirement. Then retired with more than he needed and realized he'd never enjoyed any of it. The money he saved bought him a comfortable old age. The decades of anxiety bought him nothing. Wealth is supposed to remove stress, not generate it. If your strategy makes you sick, your strategy is wrong even if it works.

The most dangerous belief in personal finance is that you'll start tomorrow. Tomorrow is where dreams go to die. Every year you wait is a year compound interest will never give back.

The fastest path to wealth has 3 components. Equity. You must own something that scales. Salary alone caps your upside. Leverage. You must use other people's money, time, or attention. Specific knowledge. You must know something most people don't, that took years of obsession to learn. Equity without leverage is slow. Leverage without knowledge is dangerous. Knowledge without equity is wasted. When all 3 meet, fortunes happen fast.

Warren Buffett didn't get rich picking stocks. He got rich avoiding bad ones. Decades of saying no to thousands of opportunities for every yes. His secret weapon is not intelligence. It's patience. Most investors are too excited to wait. They confuse motion with progress. They buy because they're bored. Boredom has cost more people more money than any market crash in history.

3 questions before you start a business. Is the problem painful enough that people will pay to make it stop. Is the solution unique enough they can't get it elsewhere. Can you deliver it without trading your whole life. If any answer is no, you have a hobby, not a business.

A man told me he was waiting for the right moment to invest. He said this in 2014. Again in 2018. Again in 2022. He's saying it now. The right moment never comes. There is only the moment you decide to start, and every other moment you don't. The market doesn't reward smart timing. It rewards being in the game.
