I’ve posted a few times before about the breakfast networking I do at the OEC on Thursday mornings (6:45 to 8:00). It’s decent. There’s a visitor week next week - any #OldhamHour #OAFC #Roughyeds interested? Pop me a message or reply. 25+ businesses. @northumbriana I wondered if it was built purposely or not - to fit a hotel into that building is pretty impressive. I went in for a coffee a few weeks back and it’s very nice inside.

I’ve never really paid much attention to this building on the Newcastle Quayside, but it has a monumental and almost Egyptian revival quality that’s really striking. It was an office block until it reopened as a swanky hotel last year.

Dan, Are you having a laugh? How can a property company with properties approx £6m value be spending £1.8 m (30%) pa on property expenses? Year in year out. That stinks Political parties are taxable on trading and commercial income. This Labour company has never paid corporation tax in 24 years despite over £30 million of income…. Either they are spectacularly incompetent or something very improper appears to be going on @Gabriel_Pogrund

It's not that surprising that a property holding company owned by a political party makes a teensy taxable profit. It is surprising it's failed to file accounts. Potentially an offence (albeit one that's almost never prosecuted).

One for the iPhone users out there… Is it possible when you put your phone into a mode e.g. “Work” you can hide the number of notifications you’ve got? So, I wouldn’t see the numbers here? I can only see a way to blanket do it per app.

Sign of inflation being insidiously introduced as Marks and Spencer move from selling bananas by weight, which was costing me 13-14p each, to individual bananas, 18p each, so a 28-38% increase sneaked in. Same with onions. What next, Cadbury’s mini egg by the egg?

Anyone working near, having a pint in or simply walking through Stevenson Square will have spotted it. The signage adorning new vape and crisps shop MCR 1 is - how to put it politely - eye-catching. But don’t get used to it. After complaints to the council’s planning office, the legality of the signage - installed in the protected Stevenson Square Conservation Area - is being investigated, with the protruding neon unit already removed. A council spokesperson told MCR Finest: "The Council is aware of complaints that have been made in relation to this premises in the Stevenson Square Conservation Area, and investigations are under way to establish if any regulations have been breached in relation to the illuminated signage and display of advertisements. However, as this is an active and ongoing investigation the Council cannot go into further detail at this stage."
