@jeffr0 I've experienced the same...am assuming it's some resource heavy scheduled task that runs and temporarily takes down the server, not totally sure though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Related: am finding that hosts don't provide a lot of helpful tools for debugging this sort of thing!

I find it interesting, after monitoring more than 30 websites for a while, how often during the week they will go offline for 1-3 minutes at a time due to timing out or just something going wonky, and then they fix themselves.

@webtw We tried them out for awhile and the more I dug into it, the more I disliked "overlays" for actual accessibility. So now, when we start a project, we try to bake accessibility right into the website through design and programming. It's not perfect, but it's better than Userway.

Question for the #WordPress #a11y #accessibility experts out there.... Is Userway actually any good? I kind of suspect not since it's an overlay but wanted a more expert opinion. Currently doing a speed audit on a site, and it's certainly not great for performance...

Nope. We remediated a site last year that had Userway on it. They had been sued twice while Userway was on the site and it was clearly not fixing some incredibly obvious issues + adding some when the tools in the toolbar were used. I would remove it and fix the issues at the source.

@webtw It's considered an overlay. It masks issues not fixes them. And that's where there's been a lot of legal issues around them. Check this out: equalizedigital.com/accessibility-….

Does one review matter? I received my first review on my plugin! I think it matters. Even if I don't get another one. I had a goal to create and release the plugin. I've had "some" sales and I have one review. And I'm happy with that. 🙂

We often blame #WordPress itself, plugin developers, hosts etc for slow speeds, and obviously those are heavily involved, but site owners ourselves do have to be responsible about our content as well.

Follow these general principles and it'll help your page perform faster, not only for #PageSpeed, but for real life users as well: 1. Keep a slim, trim page with a small size 2. Avoid too much JavaScript 3. Avoid too much 3rd party content webtrainingwheels.com/whats-making-o…
