We Live Languages

My choice is one of my 4 year old nephew’s favourite books. It’s in English,but I’ve translated it into Bosnian.I’ve read it to him in Bos so many times.I freestyle and Edi adds to the story,so it sounds diff to the original one. So now it’s our story,our book. #LanguageIsAVerb

Day 4 of #LanguageIsAVerb! I couldn’t pick just one story/book that connects to my multilingual experiences so here is a thread of some old favourites & a new one I just finished that I loved. I can’t wait to hear yours & add to my reading list.

I am fascinated by how we communicate affection in diff languages esp. in multiling homes. I got this postcard for my kids’ room when they were babies: “No one loves you like I do.” (One of my fave Polish stories from childhood is coincidentally about swans) #languageisaverb
