Orientalism, caricature, racist stereotypes and disrespect are not representation! The Chinese culture dresses were done respectfully which tells me that they do not care enough to respect other cultures that aren't theirs but also want to profit from it.

As a Puerto Rican with Taíno and Indigenous heritage, I want to clarify something respectfully. Our Indigenous culture never used large feather warbonnets like the one shown here. Taíno adornments were cotton headbands, small feathers, shells, gold and cemí symbols, all very different from this design. When games mix different Indigenous cultures together or place sacred Indigenous symbols on characters who look very white or Eurasian, it can feel uncomfortable. It turns our cultures into an aesthetic instead of real living identities. That contributes to a long history of Indigenous erasure. I understand this is a fantasy game and creativity is valid. But the headdress shown resembles sacred items from specific Native American nations. Using those designs without representing Indigenous people respectfully or accurately can feel like misrepresentation. As a Boricua with Taíno and Indigenous heritage, I empathize with Native groups whose imagery is borrowed without their presence. My point is not to attack the art. It is to advocate for cultural understanding. I would truly love to see Indigenous inspired designs in games, but created with respect, accuracy and acknowledgment. Especially Taíno culture from the Caribbean, which is often forgotten or blended into stereotypes. Representing us correctly matters.

I feel like a lot of people miss the fact Carole is what we could call an ‘unreliable narrator’ in this scene bc her assumption of them being married is based on rumors between characters. Important context a lot of people miss so no worries ^^
