Sixteen years ago, I started dreaming about this. Today, something new begins, alongside the very best. Thanks to @inakib, @arantxabarcia, @paulbz and the entire team for the trust and support. Everything is still to be built. We’re going to redefine the way audiovisual content is created.

Happy New Year, everyone! 🍾☀️ Don't miss my 7th Year in Review post. It’s a mix of numbers, experiments, things that worked, things that didn’t, and some uncomfortable reflections about changes and how I spent my time in 2025. barn2.com/blog/2025-year…

Not sure if it's harder to be successful with your first product or with the second one For two years we've pushed hard with our Domain Intelligence vision and somehow we managed to go from idea to tens of thousands of monthly recurring revenue I sat dow to reflect and write about the journey: productoynegronis.com/p/from-early-s…

Yesterday was one of my best professional days so far. Nothing grand, @wencesg came to Palma and we spent hours talking about work, life and the future. I have a feeling we’ll remember it for years to come.

@KatieKeithBarn2 It was great meeting you and thanks for sharing your view of the event outcomes. I will add that there is also the benefit of taking some distance from the business with minded peers to get back wiser!

It costs a lot to attend conferences far away, so I like to keep a record of the business benefits and reflect on whether it was worth the investment. These are the benefits I got from attending PressConf, which cost €3,435 for the ticket, flights + hotel - do you think it was worth it? - Met someone who builds websites for schools. Asked her how they display policy documents etc. for parents and she was very interested in our Document Library Pro plugin for her projects. - Met an agency owner who has a WooCommerce client who he created a fairly basic ‘Request a quote’ form for. He liked the idea of using the price formula in our WooCommerce Product Options plugin to allow customers to calculate prices and order instantly, and said he’d discuss it with his client. - Met with the owner of a plugin company who I was already arranging cross-promotions with for some Barn2 plugins, but it was only while we were chatting in person that it occurred to me that his product also overlaps closely with the Setary bulk editor that I recently partnered with. He also revealed that they’re building a Shopify version, which I didn’t know. We are now talking about how we can cross-promote his product with both the WooCommerce and (not yet released) Shopify versions of Setary. - Met with a new plugin owner who wanted marketing advice. It turned out that he has lots of experience building Shopify sites for clients, and shared insights into the Shopify market and how merchants choose apps, what they’re willing to pay, etc. - Had a conversation with some people about a possible upcoming feature for Document Library Pro, which they recently added to their (non-competing) product. I was unsure whether to add it or whether my developer’s time estimate was realistic, and they reassured me that it is important for users and that the estimate sounded reasonable. - Someone told me about LLC.txt files which can help AI’s to read your website. I had never heard of these and don’t think we have one, so I’ll talk to our web developer about this. - I discovered that a major WordPress plugin company gives Tier 3 support engineers an unlimited amount of time to work on each ticket. One of my developers has recently reported to me that tickets had been escalated to the lead developer simply because Tier 3 had reached the maximum amount of time that our current policy allows, which isn’t a good use of resources. I had already arranged to increase the maximum time limit, but will now consider whether to increase this to unlimited. - Had dinner with the founders of a major WordPress agency who shared information about how enterprise-level agencies work. I learned from this that they hardly use any plugins and there’s no point approaching this level of agency to become a preferred partner, as they build everything bespoke. - Had an interesting discussion with someone who had taken investment about the extent to which the investor had actively helped them to grow their business. - Had a long conversation with a plugin founder about hosting partnerships as this is his main distribution channel and the way he gets sales despite being in a crowded market. He advised on the different financial models for a deal I’m currently negotiating to include one of our plugins in a WooCommerce hosting package, as I’ve been unsure of how to charge for this. - I joined in with a discussion that I overheard between a host and plugin company owner about the challenges of adding a third party plugin to their hosting plans. We talked about how hosting partnerships are an untapped opportunity in the WP market. The host agreed and said they would would include my comments and suggestions in internal discussions about how to move forward with this. - Met lots of lovely people in person for the first time who I previously only knew from Twitter etc. These connections will obviously grow over time. Thank you so much to @raquel__karina for organizing such a fantastic event 👏🙏. I’d love to hear what other people got out of it, too!
