Alright boys and girls and they/thems gather around for some crab dismembering, had a request for this place, so it jumps the sushi queue. Kitafuku is easily the best crab place I’ve ever been, specializing on red king crab, which is live and cooked fresh

Does anyone know of literature on psychedelics/psychedelic therapy and perhaps ayahuasca in particular being used to self medicate for irritable bowl syndrome?

@samswoora This happens to me often, letting it surface with weed tends to allow the feeling to work itself out of the citta. Try to seperate the aggregates notice your breath, your heart rate, racing thoughts etc. The solidity of the illusion will shortly dissipate. Works for me anyways!

Whats the antidote to horror? Like last night I was smoking weed and really felt that like deep existential horror. That everythings out of control and you arent in control, just a cog in a larger things. Is there a psychological move when you feel that?

Milestone: yesterday I got my first ever comment that “Somatic meditation actually turned down my inner monologue *too* much - I kinda want it back up in some situations”

@yacineMTB I also went through this (mainly over it…) I guess the thing to realise is that it’s true. Dependent origination and all that. Burbea lectures and books could help. Also remembering the fact it being true means you can’t / don’t have to , do anything about it.

@5matthewdub Thanks for this! I was interested when I found your post as I was intuitively (dharma informed) using cannabis in a similar way, and encountered a lot of questioning about whether I was simply masochistic 😂 nice to discover a modality centred around it.

What I hate about scientific psychedelic trials (aside from the abuse and gaslighting!) is the unchangeable control of method, using a ~60 year old psychotherapeutic model ignorant of current trauma research. The PSIP model heals trauma, with cannabis(!), ketamine, or MDMA.🧵

And who knows if this will work for everyone, but holy shit did it work for me (in a self-guided cannabis session). One 1.5hr session = the single biggest change in my baseline wellbeing. My whole personality structure of coping with that activation, blessedly obsolete.

@JulesEvans11 Dread and anxiety than even a bad trip, but we have usually have the cultural container in which to fit it. I shudder to think how many fatal MH outcomes occur during or in aftermath of heavy alcohol use.

@JulesEvans11 Than any other factor, people developing schizophrenia later in life is rarer than during adolescence but not unheard of and often blamed anecdotally on drug use, I always question why alcohol is not implicated in such cases more often. A hangover can cause more existential

@algekalipso Have also experienced this combination as being very powerful. I find that I don’t usually experience much bliss while in the actual sauna, more a wish to escape 😂 so a powerful technique can be to use that dukka as the suffering of others portion of maitrī practise.

Very hot sauna combined with meditation seems very promising as a valence therapy. You get both cardiovascular annealing *and* neural annealing in tandem, like hand in glove. Just make sure to have a good cooling schedule. Meditate on the blissful feelings as you "come down".

Here is QRI's super-strong & unexpectedly rational steel-man of "Sacred Geometry". (✷‿✷) If you've ever done "sacred geometry meditation exercises" and experienced strange effects... Why? It's OK to ask! In fact, it's an important hint! Don't ignore. youtu.be/FmSzQEzln9U

@lemonaut1 Clipping (especially soft clipping) can actually be a very pleasant experience and one of the reasons analog audio is considered more aesthetically pleasing than digital audio for many people. Not certain about the usefulness of this analogy.

sensory overstimulation feels exactly like audio waveform clipping. it's symmetry-breaking, and inherently painful. so you try to avoid it when you can.

Or is this child caught up in a terrifying and brutal underworld created by arbitrary drug laws. Laws that lead to it being profitable to turn children like this into addicts.
