@tonivelos_NL @polidemitolog Serbia has one of better fertility rates in Europe. Trends you are talking about are global. If social and political situation changes it can change in future. Emigration will stop, that is most important.

The fertility rate is 1.1–1.2 children per woman (far below 2.1 replacement level) and the crude birth rate is near record lows, approx. 6.5–7.8 per 1,000 people.

@tonivelos_NL @polidemitolog Disappearance of culture happens with migrations. Eastern Europe is against immigration. Solution is to increase native birth rate. In case of Serbia I believe that would happen with more stable social situation. This way Serbian children are becoming members of EU countries.

@weoruwoier Protiv sam bilo kakvog odvajanja, ali i za punu decentralizaciju Srbije, po ugledu na onu iz Kraljevine. Za desetinu sam autonomija nalik švajcarskim kantonima. Pod Beogradom da ostanu samo vojska, carina, visoko školstvo, federalna policija i tužilaštvo, krivični i ustavni sud.

"Srbija nikad neće biti deo Evropske Unije. Granice EU su granice K und K monarhije, plus front prema Rusiji." — ovo su reči kancelara Šredera upućene Đinđiću, marta 2003. O tom svedočio Čeda Jovanović 2021. na RTS. Pismo Vilija Vimera iz 2001, upućeno Šrederu, kaže skoro isto.

@polidemitolog When I say less consumer society that means society needs to have some goals and ideology, can't live in pure hedonism or in constant run for money, having Nepal workers bringing them Wolt food every day. That is problem with Europe, we see that problem arriving in Serbia too.

@weoruwoier China is in a state of demographic collapse since they aborted girls systematically as a society, their labor force is also very much alike to slave labor. I can imagine state enterprise either privatized or with corporate management, that would sort things out.

@polidemitolog I would rather see migrations of people of European origin back to Europe, for example. Economy doesn't need cheap labor but productivity, advanced technology. China also has no migrations. Imagine workers from government firms in Serbia to work something that really makes profit

It went from a second economy in the world in the 80s, the one that scared America, to a stagnating middle power. But Japan is also a collectivist society, like any East Asian society, unlike individualism of the Western civilization we are a part of. Immigration usually comes from less developed countries to more developed countries, we can have quotas of how many people from each country we let in. Right now, there is no problem with legal migration, there is a problem with uncontrolled migration under the guise of asylums-seeking, this can be changed.

@polidemitolog How Japan lives without migrations? Why migration needs to be from third world? In history migrations were among close regions, not from other continents, people were more similar and better assimilate. Besides that nothing wrong with less consumer society.

Putting aside the fact that migration is an endless occurrence in history, such as Slavs migrating to the Balkans, Serbs migrating to the Austrian Empire etc, it's not possible to have economic growth, high productivity and technological advancement without labor migration and intellectual migration. But it's perfectly possible to close the borders, you just have to accept to live outside of the high consumer world, return to the economics of the 19th century, when one pair of pants was repaired for ten years. Any country which does it, though, will fall behind its competitors. The same thing happened to communist countries who tried to build an alternative economic system.
