Don't waste your time listening to podcast ads. Try @SkipperTheApp for iPhone, Mac, and iPad. It detects and skips ads using 100% on device intelligence which allows us to avoid charging a subscription fee.

candidates who reflect a population's interests lose elections because most people don't bother to vote, much less form an opinion about their own political interests. most who vote skip the latter and outsource it to social signals and their environment, like its a sports team.

@Waymo This is not what public roads are for. It’s called cruising and it’s often disallowed.

I am deploying a new ad detection model to Skipper beta users. 85.5% of ads in the test set are detected w/ a 1.1% false positive rate Trained on 1.6m content samples over many days. Hardware was @nvidia 3090 and M3 MacBook Air. Only could do it with tinygpu and @__tinygrad__

@zerohedge Can anyone explain why they bothered with the trial in the first place if everyone knew a deadline wasn't met?

The US has millions of square feet of empty factories and warehouses. Why aren’t the data centers real estate developers looking at using already zoned industrial areas in places like Detroit or other rust belt cities with vacant industrial spaces?

No one needs tools like bun anymore. thats why they are doing this. Dependencies are an inefficiency in the AI coding era. Small deps are easily reimplemented. Large deps do more than needed, you get token overhead. Point the model at the dep and implement your own code.

@potatoslav It is performative to keep the vision industry relevant regardless of advances in technology. There is regulatory capture that requires a doctor to do the exam even though these machines exist. Pediatricians are allowed to use them because babies don't talk. Dental is the same.

took my baby to the doctor today and they checked his vision with a cool little laser gun with a smiley face on it. gave me a whole readout of his prescription. took 15 seconds. why can’t they use this on me? why when i go to the doctor am i playing a game of 20 questions that lasts an hour and stresses me out bc what if i get the questions wrong?? “read these tiny letters” “slide one, or slide two” we are still doing this to Torture and Humiliate the semi-blind i think

I have been using @__tinygrad__ with tinygpu to train the ad detection model for Skipper. Hardware is a M3 MacBook Air and a 3090 eGPU. Its really nice to be able to train the model on the same machine I use Xcode on.

Everyone has been 'vibe coding' for like 2 years with this 'insane' tool and there are still 0 (zero) notable game changing products that compare to what dedicated humans created in their basements prior to AI. Anyone w/ expertise in any subject immediately realises how overrated it is for giving you anything beyond the most basic information in it. If you can legitimately write, any writing produced by an LLM is a disgusting insult to all of your senses. Good for the boring and tediously repetitive tasks + organising information, but still so unreliable and far away from what Silicon Valley keep trying to shill us.

@BonesawMD I have used AI to code a new, full featured podcasting app that detects and skips ads on device. @SkipperTheApp AI enabled me to do this over about a 6 month period by myself. Nothing that couldn't have been done by hand. Its just easier and faster now.

It is disappointing we've decided to seal batteries into our cars, laptops, phones, etc. Free the batteries.
