Free speech just got another boot to the throat. Pauline Hanson told Mehreen Faruqi to “piss off back to Pakistan” after the Queen died. A court has now ruled that was “racist” and threw out her appeal. Faruqi stood outside court preening like she’d just saved the nation, declaring “hate speech is not free speech” and that this was a win for every migrant who’s been told to shut up and be grateful. No. This is a win for the thin skinned, the professional victims, and the judges who think ordinary Australians must walk on eggshells forever. Hanson is taking it to the High Court. Good. Because if telling a politician who constantly lectures this country that she can leave if she doesn’t like it is now illegal, then public debate is already dead. Stand with Hanson. The alternative is more of this: imported grievance politics backed by the courts.

I stand with Pauline Hanson who said @MehreenFaruqi should p*ss off back to Pakistan. If she supports bringing back ISIS terrorists & their kids to Australia she should take them back home with her to Pakistan wh0 harboured Osama Bin Laden

Basically, the court has ruled it’s perfectly fine for bigots who hate Australia to weaponise Australian law so they can freely offend and insult Australians — while those same bigots are protected from getting a taste of their own medicine. Farqui spat on millions of Australians still in mourning over the Queen’s death when she took to social media and declared she “cannot mourn the leader of a racist empire built on the stolen lives, land and wealth of colonised people.” The sheer, gutless hypocrisy of Farqui is staggering. She migrated here, grabbed citizenship, bought multiple homes, secured a well-paid job in parliament, and has grown wealthy and influential off the very British institutions and heritage she now sneers at. She reaps every benefit this country built — then turns around and spits in Australia’s face. And let’s not forget her historical ignorance. Farqui somehow overlooks that it was the British who ended the slave trade while Islamist corsairs were still raiding European coasts, capturing Christians and selling them into slavery. The British Navy paid a heavy price — 141 killed and 742 wounded — bombarding Algiers in 1816 to free thousands of those Christian slaves from Islamist captors. Yet after her vile & offensive tweet, Pauline Hanson spoke for millions of ordinary Australians (including me) in mourning and hit back:“You took citizenship, bought multiple homes, and a job in parliament. It’s clear you’re not happy, so pack your bags and piss off back to Pakistan” —suddenly Hanson is the guilty one and Farqui plays the victim, happy to dish out the insults, but can’t take a single blow in return. In my opinion, given the circumstances, Pauline Hanson had every right — and was completely correct — to respond exactly that way to Farqui’s vile, offensive tweet. Hopefully the High Court will see it the same way. If not, we urgently need to change this law. If not, what would have been an appropriate response in reply to Farqui’s vile attacked upon the Queen ?
