@biheretic right ppl keep saying the translator was unprofessional in their response and also mocking readers by being so flippant (i personally disagree with both) but like i don’t think that is part of their job description 😭

i don't go here but it's wild seeing people respond to this like "well that makes sense but the translator should've said so" like have y'all considered not harassing translators because you assume they're just making choices willy nilly with no thought

some additional context that went into the carefully considered choice of rendering 安折 as “anzhe” 🧵🪡 firstly, anzhe is not a person, legally or physically. all his documents say an ze, and that’s who he’s assumed to be - the name “anzhe” exists only in his head.

i understand why ppl are upset with the name change decision for the LM 7s TL and i also understand the translator’s reasoning behind the decision and ultimately i don’t really care either way. maybe this is how others feel when i freak out about rosmei’s TL decisions lol

You should immerse in your target language, even if you don't understand a single word. I am watching a Stardew Valley playthrough and the commentator has been talking about fish for 5 minutes. Now I know the word for fish because my brain picked it up.
