@SkyFootball Utterly boring, your commentators seem to think it’s been intriguing, poor guys must be used to this…

@PaulSpacey The technical/ball mastery side is so important but for players to excel against their peers they need the physical side too, mainly power (speed and strength). I’ve coached lots of players with good ability but if they are a late developer physically, it’s a struggle

@AdvFtbAcad Have you considered this kid has hit hundreds of shots on video but Dad just uploaded these clips to social media to show off? How you know this technique is consistent….
English

@DundeeFC 😂😂😂😂😂 Pressley is the Starmer of Dundee Fc, out to destroy from the inside. He’s brought in Finlay Robertson, jones and Ingram. Name me 3 weaker players from the whole of Scottish football. Suicidal Pressley please get yourself away tae fuck you spastic
English

@PaulSpacey @kestrelpsych He took it more seriously because during the summer he would play most days.
English

@west567953 @kestrelpsych Kane joined Arsenal’s academy age 6 and football has always been his main sport. How did he start taking it more seriously at 13?
Many kids play around with other sports for fun. But if you’re devoting the huge majority of your time to football, that’s specializing.
English

Show. The. Data.
Who decided the top 100 players?
How was 80% specialization calculated?
What about all the other people that did exactly the same and never “made it”.
“I did my research” vs actual research. 🤦🏻
Paul Spacey ⚽️@PaulSpacey
"Start playing football later and don't specialize." TOP 100 PLAYERS Average starting age: 5 Football specialization: 80% Started playing by 8 years old: 100%
English

@PaulSpacey @kestrelpsych To be fair I’ve just looked up a few examples of top players who played different sports growing up. Harry Kane started golf when he was 6 then took it more seriously when he was 13. Unless he wasn’t in your top 100? There appears to be many top players that grew up playing golf
English

You’re not getting it Tom.
I’m not trying to show this is the *only* way. But it is the *best* way to be a top 100 player, as evidenced by the top 100 players (you can argue over how accurate that list is obviously).
If there is a better way to be a *top* player, show me the data that supports it? You can’t because the story of the top players is almost always the same.
English

@PaulSpacey It’s certainly interesting, I didn’t realise data on the age of specialisation even existed for the top 100 males players.
It’s such a risk for coaches and parents to encourage this at a really young age when the odds of being a top level Pro are so low.
English

@west567953 Yes, male players.
For early specialization (80%), the average age was 6.
For multi-sport players (20%), the average age of specialization in soccer was 13.
English

@PaulSpacey Fair play if true, that’s a significant amount of research. I presume these are the top 100 males players? And at what age had 80% of them specialised by? (If I’m reading your post correctly)
English

@west567953 I researched the top 100 players. Took some time.
I’ll wait patiently for someone to do enough research to prove me wrong on at least one of the top 100 players and their background in the game.
English

@ebeneezer1979 @HLTCO Some dinosaurs struggling with this. What’s it got to do with football training 😂 you ever delivered a session in your life mate
English

@HLTCO Okay… but what’s that got to do with football training 🤔🤷🏼♂️
English

@HappySoccerGuy This is a great example of the utter rubbish on social media regarding kids football.
