The West Side Dems voted to endorse @scottmstringer last night by an overwhelming margin — we are proud to support him for mayor!

It is a bleak morning. But I would be remiss if I did not express my deep gratitude to the voters of the 69th Assembly District for electing me to represent you. I will do so proudly.  During my campaign, I spoke about the importance of the Legislature having the foresight and the capacity to anticipate and mitigate attacks on our laws, liberties, and values from the far right. We knew these attacks would come from the Supreme Court and red states across the country, but I had hoped that they would not again come from the White House. Here we are. At the same time, we must not be fatalistic. I do not believe this will be our last election. And it seems to me that we Democrats have work to do on a concrete, clear, and convincing agenda to make people’s lives better, particularly when it comes to a distorted form of economic growth that leaves working people behind more and more. The other side is truly awful, but that has come to define our message, and in many respects we have lost the plot.  I will give everything I’ve got, every day, to protecting New Yorkers in my district and across the state — and to building a kind of politics that reminds people of the very real reasons we are stronger together.

Buck up. We’ve been here before. Our institutions have been tested, and they’ll be tested again. I’m grateful to everyone who tried to prevent this outcome. We can take a moment to mourn, but only a moment. There is another federal election in two years. We need to get ready.

I’m here canvassing voters in Coatesville, PA because I believe with every fiber of my being that we deserve *so much better* than to surrender everything we have fought for and won to Donald Trump. When we vote, we win! Let’s bring this home for @KamalaHarris—and for ourselves.

Polls are OPEN here in NYC. Remember to flip your ballot and vote YES on #Prop1 (our state’s Equal Rights Amendments, which also protects reproductive rights) and to #Nix2Through6 (Mayor Adams’s rushed and poorly conceived proposed amendments to our City Charter). Vote by 9 PM!

As @MarkLevineNYC and many others reminded us today, we *all* need to get on buses to go canvassing and/or join phone banks to help @KamalaHarris and @Tim_Walz win, and to help Democrats retake the House and hold the Senate this November!

We were so excited to be at today’s Let’s Go Dems rally in Verdi Square! Thank you so much to the organizers and our fantastic local elected officials — now it’s time to elect Dems up and down the ballot both in NY and everywhere!
