@well_keen @ChaniceH24 @TheTennisLetter The tennis babies were also beating a 29-year-old Novak Djokovic in his prime. So what’s worse a late 30s Roger Federer losing to them or prime Djokovic doing the same? 🤦‍♂️

Zverev says he believes he will win a Grand Slam this year: “I know I’m probably not gonna break any records. One of the only things I care about is improving my game to win a Slam. That’s my main focus. That’s my main goal. I do feel like I’m capable. Last year I didn’t feel that way. I was playing badly. I was injured quite a lot. When you’re playing with pain and aches all the time, when you’re not free on the court, it’s tough to play your best tennis. Then your confidence drops. Then it’s just tough to get out of the situation, especially in tough moments, which Grand Slams will put you in.” “I do feel different this year. I do feel like it can… but it also will happen.” (via @TennisChannel interviewed by @PrakashAmritraj)

@DavidSavanovic If you’re a professional Sinner hater, wouldn’t it make more sense to support Fonseca’s development so he can eventually challenge and stop Sinner? 🤷‍♂️

David Goffin compares playing Federer, Djokovic and Nadal: “Against Novak and Rafa, you have balls to hit, but they are so physically really tough. And Roger, he just takes position in the court. He tries to go forward all the time, go for the winners. Then you just don't play tennis against him." - David Goffin

@TennisMyLife68 Nadal in 2021 and Djokovic in 2023. 😂 They couldn’t do it in their prime, when they were playing their best tennis but they were able to do it against them. 🤦‍♂️

These stats show that Djokovic saving match points against Federer isn’t anything extraordinary, because plenty of other players have done the same. Federer also holds the Open Era record for the most matches won after saving at least one match point. Federer: 24 😂 Nadal: 17 Djokovic: 16 The only player who can beat Federer is Federer himself.

🎙️ Who is the most talented player? Roger Federer! For his unique talent. Even Djokovic plays like a machine (Robot)…But Roger is great in any aspect. Beautiful, elegant, with a sort of artistic ability... No one can do it." - Medvedev Medvedev has beaten every player he’s faced who has been ranked world No. 1 at some point in their career, except Federer, who leads their head-to-head 3–0.

They all beat a 30-year-old Djokovic, which is even more impressive than Sinner and Alcaraz beating a nearly 40-year-old Djokovic. 💯 Saying a 38-year-old Federer couldn’t beat Zverev and Tsitsipas just makes you look foolish, because at the same time, they were also beating Djokovic. Even kyrgios defeated 30 years old Djokovic back to back 😂

@wey_know 😂What a fake stat Medvedev only had his tennis rise in Summer 19 Fed last played him March 19 Fed couldn't make it far enough to face him because he choked out to Rublev and Dimitrov early at Cinci and US Open I mean Fed couldn't even beat baby Tsitsipas or Zverev in the h2h

Back then, some players didn’t even bother apologising, that’s how fiercely they competed and how deeply they wanted it. Today’s players are far calmer and more respectful toward one another. You can’t really blame them though, many grew up idolising Federer and Nadal, who showed that even the fiercest rivals can still be friends.

Tennis has gone soft man…These guys treat the opponent like friends….While being respectful is good, you have to show the opponent that you want it… This was the sport I grew up with “Rivalry” 🥵

Djokovic said most tennis players retire between 29-32 and that’s a fact. Even with today’s advances in sports science, older players still struggle to keep up. Only 6 players are over 32 in the Top 100 and just 3 in the Top 50. 🤷‍♂️ So calling a 29-year-old “not old” in tennis shows a clear misunderstanding of the sport. At that age, even Djokovic struggled against top players like Thiem. Thiem retired at 31 😆

The day Djokovic broke Federer. 17 years ago in Miami, Djokovic was playing so well that he made Federer smash his racket in rage. The crowd booed and turned on Roger and started cheering for Novak. Djokovic defeated Federer by a score of 3-6 6-2 6-3.

Retirement ages of the top players from Federer’s generation: Safin 29 Roddick 30 Davydenko 33 Ferrero 32 Nalbandian 31 González 32 Ljubičić 33 All retired before 2014. The sport has since evolved with advances in sports science, but Federer’s generation didn’t have that advantage. His longevity was driven by exceptional talent and efficiency.

João Fonseca says the difference between Alcaraz & Sinner is that Alcaraz has more arsenal, ‘Sinner is more like a robot that just kills the ball & does everything perfect. Carlos, he can do everything' "I think it [facing Jannik Sinner at Indian Wells] helped me to understand... of course, it's different types of games. I think Alcaraz has more arsenal than Sinner. Sinner is more like a robot that just kills the ball & does everything perfect. Carlos, he can do everything. He can do with topspin. He can fire the ball. He goes to the net. He has everything." "It's more difficult to understand the game. He breaks a lot your rhythm. From the beginning I was not serving well. He was returning good the second serves. He got more used to it on court. In the beginning it was a bit more pressure, same as me. But yeah, he got an early break in the beginning of the 1st set and 2nd set. Then he played his game. With good shots, going to the net, approaching. I think the Jannik game helped me to enter the court with no fear.. Trying to play my game. I think I didn't get the opportunities that I had. And of course he played good. He's #1 in the world. I need to think about my mistakes and trying to improve." (via Miami Open Press)
