This is actually hilarious to me. These companies already have a trade association - the AMPTP, an organization whose name you’ve, well, heard a lot lately. They’re basically trying a lobbying rebrand because the optics around their previous trade group became so toxic.

Once again, #SagAftraMembers have come together in support of their peers, voting overwhelmingly — with 98.32% in favor — to approve a strike authorization on the Interactive Media Agreement ahead of a return to negotiations.

Teams get insurance now too. Guaranteed second step. Accelerated payment schedule for features. AI protections. Script feed for staff writers. Increased residuals. Increased foreign residual for streaming movies made for more than 30 million.

✅Minimum room size. ✅Pay increases. ✅AI can't write. ✅Disclosure of streaming numbers w/ residuals to match. ✅Guaranteed 2nd step for screenwriters. ✅Script fees for staff writers. ✅Writing teams get full payment into pension (this is huge for me specifically) Hell. Yes.

This deal is incredible in so many ways. But this took my breath away: "In addition to the... writer designated by the Company to make hiring decisions... (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Showrunner’)…” Showrunner is now officially defined in the MBA. AS A WRITER. #WGAStrong

The WGA reached a tentative agreement with the AMPTP. Today, our Negotiating Committee, WGAW Board, and WGAE Council all voted unanimously to recommend the agreement. The strike ends at 12:01 am. Check out our deal at wgacontract2023.org/deal. #WGAStrong

It took five days of good faith negotiation by the studios to reach a deal. Every other day of the strike was unnecessary lost time caused by the studios petulantly refusing to sit down and talk like adults
