Me either but I have a problem with the entire system and people feeling over entitled to income that they didn’t earn fairly. Not saying that they can’t spend it but everyone should be aware that the system is layered and exploited in a way that creates massive global inequality.

Can't have an isolated topic without tracing the root of the problem to source principles. I believe a balance is necessary and we are far outside that balance. But yes it appears as a subject change. The man should be entitled to gamble, I was simply just arguing that it would be nice if people donated more to those in need rather than risking multiple $750+ spins in < 1 min with horrible odds to improve outcomes of anyone including himself.

The poorest claim in society, a welfare check, can be cancelled by the next election. The richest claim, a toll on housing or a monopoly, can't be cancelled at all; the public can only buy it back at full price from whoever owns it now. And the money doing the buying back often traces to the same rigged rules that created the toll. We built a system where the weakest incomes are the easiest to revoke and the strongest are the only ones we can't touch.

It is when the government enforces laws unequally and creates an economic system backed by law that creates inequality. Law one. Bob owns 80% of the land and nobody can take it from him. Why does Bob get the land indefinitely and all his kids prosper but nobody else? Bob just did one tiny favor or maybe blackmailed someone 300 years ago into getting it. The system should provide food and housing for those that exist and belong to it but it also should prevent the problem from expanding too. Yes socialism is fucked right now in some ways because people are soft. But in general there is nothing wrong with helping your neighbor.
