I am hoping to see a few people with Resin printers and electronics assembly skills making the rings on their own. The intersection of these skills and equipment and interest area is perhaps rare. Digital copy of rings available on @Etsy now . etsy.com/listing/140651…

I went to use a piece of GIS software for the first time in nearly two decades and of course @whatnick is one of the developers. Hi Tish!

@besttrousers @ryancbriggs I think the apt comparison is economics and epidemiology -- particularly for the kind of "figuring out causal relationships from observational data". Which, yeah if you think epi is a science I think you also have to think econ is.

We've got some really cool curlyboi art designed by a local Adelaide artist that you can wear upon your very own torso, but only if you buy your PyCon AU ticket in the next week; the T-shirt cut-off is midnight Adelaide time at the end of 20 July. 2023.pycon.org.au/attend/?ref=tw

No wonder the alien spaceship or technological artifact chose to crash instead of asking for permission to land.

@abcnews I thought Interstellar means outside our solar/star system instead of outside our galaxy ( intergalactic) . abc.net.au/news/2023-07-1…. Perhaps a real astronomer can correct me. Also the bureaucratic overhead in the face of the extreme scale of universe is a bit astounding

Being in boardrooms and hearing jargon that uses lots of words to say nothing is not fun at all. Perhaps we are getting close to having AI politicians.

User This late pivot means we don’t have time to boil the ocean for the client deliverable. Assistant Because of this sudden change, we don’t have enough time to complete the entire project for the client.

I perhaps like this tongue in cheek OpenAI sample the best.

If you haven't got your ticket for PyCon AU yet, get in soon; you've got two weeks to guarantee a T-shirt in your size! If you want to wear that curlyboi goodness, get your ticket orders in by midnight Adelaide time at the end of Thursday 20 July at 2023.pycon.org.au/attend/

Is there any chance of a technical post-mortem from CommBank. Would love to see the inner workings of the core systems and what exactly happened. Nothing has 💯 uptime (other than perpetual motion machines).

An observation about devops: At Big Tech, engineers take on all the operations work, oncall, deal with being woken up at night, b/c they are paid very, very well to do this. Hard to copy this model if you don't pay like those companies do. Else you need something different.
