Two walk-off wins to keep the streak alive! The Wheaton softball team hosted Wisconsin Lutheran College for a doubleheader at Ruth Leedy Field this afternoon, and the Thunder earned a pair of single-score victories in dramatic fashion to extend their winning run to eight-straight games! Wheaton is now 6-0 at home and 11-5 on the season overall. Ava Hartnett and Livi Figueroa led Wheaton in hits and RBI, respectively, in the first game, while Amaya Daniels hit a walk-off single in the eighth inning that scored Madeleine Hillyer for the winning run. Shylah Dozeman pitched a complete game in the circle, tallying three strikeouts, walking just one opposition batter, and allowing only one earned run. Hillyer played the role of game-winner in the second contest this evening with an RBI single of her own that brought Abby Whitehead in for the decisive score. Whitehead led all players with three runs and posted two hits, while Mia Reinhard was 3-4 at the plate with two RBI and Cate Welch logged two runs, two hits, and a career-high four RBI in the win. Iris Jones pitched the final inning of game two and closed out the victory for her first win of the season. The Thunder's upcoming doubleheader at Olivet on Saturday has been postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions, so Wheaton will next be in action at Aurora University next Wednesday. #LetsRoll

Double award recognition after a 4-0 week! The Thunder softball team sweeps today's CCIW honors, as the junior duo of Shylah Dozeman and Abby Whitehead are named the conference's Pitcher and Hitter of the Week! This marks the second weekly accolade of both student-athletes' careers after each earned the same recognition last April. Dozeman was 2-0 in the circle last week with a 2.10 ERA in 13.1 innings of work, holding opposition hitters to a .208 batting average as she struck out 15 players. She earned a complete game shutout in a Thunder win at Eureka College on Friday. Whitehead hit .583 in helping lead the Thunder to a 4-0 record last week and had a pair of game-winning home runs in Wheaton's doubleheader sweep of Blackburn College on Saturday. She posted a 1.167 slugging  percentage for the week with a .688 on-base percentage and added a double and drew four walks along with her decisive homers. #LetsRoll

The win streak reaches six after another doubleheader sweep! The Wheaton softball team hosted Maranatha Baptist University for a non-conference twinbill this afternoon, and the Thunder controlled all areas of the game en route to a pair of lopsided victories. Wheaton's 25-0 win in today's first game marks the highest run total and largest margin of victory for the program since a 31-2 win in March 2010. The Thunder are back at Ruth Leedy Field on Wednesday for a 2 PM & 4 PM doubleheader against Wisconsin Lutheran College. #LetsRoll

Wheaton softball swept its first home doubleheader of the season as the Thunder took two against Blackburn on Saturday at Ruth Leedy Field. Wheaton won the first game 10-8 and the Thunder rallied to win the second game 12-10 with a walk-off home run.
