Leaving aside the obvious issue that an old abridged dictionary probably isn't the best place to look up mathematical terminology, what does 'stochastic' actually mean - and how does it differ from 'random'? 1/

@StuartMaddison Yep - the Danish "gene" translates to "nuisance" en.bab.la/dictionary/dan… - but they didn't translate it, thinking perhaps that it retained the same meaning in English (the French call this a "faux-ami") en.wiktionary.org/wiki/faux_ami
